What's a F1 race like live? Are there monitors all over so you can keep track of the grid and the storylines or is all your information based on the small piece of track you can see? I'm considering going to the US race this year or next, but I might not if it's one of those sports that's better viewed on TV. They have big screens set up with live commentary over the loud speaker. It’s pretty easy to follow but to be honest, just the experience of being at the race track is good in itself. The cars look way faster IRL, the engines sound amazing and you can even smell the exhaust fumes. I don’t know if it’s the same at the US race but the British race has a really good atmosphere from the crowd. The support races are fun to watch too. Only downside is it can be pretty expensive.

It's hard to tell how big F1 is over here, no one ever talks about it and there is definitely a bias to NASCAR and Indy, I for one don't like oval racing so I don't follow either. Also there isn't an American driver, and yes we have Haas but they don't gather the amount of support as a team like Ford or Chevy would. I could be full of shit and it has more fans here than I give it credit for. Regardless I'd still be interested in checking out either the US or Canada race some year. After hearing you talk about your experience it's officially on the bucket list, hell maybe I should just say fuck it and go to Silverstone or Austria, it's always fun to check new countries off the list.

The support for F1 in the states gets bigger every year. COTA is a fun track but I miss Indianapolis. One of the reasons people dislike F1 is that for the Indianapolis race a lot of the track had to be altered. They even demolished the old pit lane/buildings and got new ones. Many Indy 500/Nascar fans weren't too happy about it.

Not a good look when you’re trying to build a fan base in a country.

I wasn't expecting to go into my first F1 season and have one of my favorite drivers come from Ferrari or Mercedes. But Charles Leclerc has impressed the hell out of me, not just in his racing but in his maturity and humble demeanor. I'll probably compile a formal like/hate list at the end of the season, but I can safely decide already that Leclerc is going to be at the top of the like list.

Those Ferrari team orders were on another level yesterday. Vettel was clearly faster in the beginning. Also very fun to see how their strategy got completely fucked when the safetycar came.

What are peoples thoughts on the 2021 changes that got announced today? This is my first regulation change as a fan so I'm curious to see how this plays out, it seems like they have very good intentions and if they do promote closer following and more balance throughout the grid I'd be really fucking pumped. I also wonder what kind of unintended consequences might unfold, and how hard teams are going to cheat/bend the new financial rules.
I just want to see a sport where everyone has a chance at a podium at least, I'm really bored of seeing the same 5 faces on the podium every race weekend.... Errr except that one time Kvyat got up there too, that was awesome.

What a finish! Just when I was starting to complain that the race was on the boring side the shit hit the fan. I feel so hard for Albon, he seems like just the nicest guy in F1 and I really wanted to see him on the podium today. But hey Gasly and Sainz both deserved podium finishes they had great races today, Gasly races better in a Toro Roso than he did in the Red Bull, and Sainz wrapped up his F1.5 championship today. It is a shame 4 of the top 6 drivers had to crash into each other to see some new faces on the podium, really hope 2021 brings some diversity into the field.

Fun fact: of the current 20 car grid 15 drivers have stood on an F1 podium. Of the five who haven't four of them are rookies and one of them is Nico Hulkenberg.

Poor Nico. Let's hope everyone crashes in the last race besides Max so he can get a podium for his last race haha

Okay after my first season I can officially say I'm a F1 fan. Random rants and thoughts inbound, thanks to people that helped answer some questions and allowed me to vent and ramble throughout the season.
Drivers I like: Leclerc, Sainz, Norris, Russell (get this man a real car!), Albon. Drivers I sometimes like: Vettel, Verstappen, Gasly, Magnussen. Drivers that make me chuckle: Ricciardo, Kimi. Drivers I'm meh on: everyone else
-Looking forward to 2020 I'd like to see if Ferrari and Red Bull are able to closer to Mercedes or if Mclaren or Renault are able to get closer to Ferrari and Red Bull. -I'm curious to see how Albon handles a full season at Red Bull, he certainly drove it better than Gasly but he never really brought the fight to the leaders, I know there's more in that car and he needs to be able to find it if he wants to keep his seat. -Can Williams compete?! They don't need to be fighting for podiums but it'd be great to see them fighting in the midfield and scoring some points along the way. -Next silly season could be hysterical, I have this feeling Vettel will wind up back at Red Bull, and there's a lot more potential for insanity than just that. -Random side note: I want to see Ford enter F1, not only could it be an amazing looking car, but if F1 really wants to grow in America Haas alone isn't going to cut it. Seeing 2 bright blue Ford cars on the grid could do wonders do a lot to grab new American viewers, especially when NASCAR seems to be bleeding viewers.

Seeing Ford back in F1 would be a great and with the knowledge and history with racing they have they could make the grid shiver. They used to be in F1 sponsoring the Cosworth engines and had a stake with the Jaguar team from 2000 - 2004 but it wasn't a big succes. 7th in the constructors championship and only 3 podiums in 4 years.

In The Netherlands they will have some specials airing about winter testing but the focus will be on Red Bull and Max ofcourse. Can't wait to see more teams reveal their 2020 cars. The Renault test livery looks so good even though it's renault lol.
