The past 3 years I've been working in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), web analytics, and Pay Per Click campaigns. I've done some Social Media Management in the past, but recent changes have me more focused on overall digital marketing strategy.
I didn't think that looking at lines on lines of data in front of a screen all day could be physically exhausting, but I usually feel very drained after a day's worth of work. I basically live in spreadsheets majority of the time.

What software do you build friend? Haha this accurately describes previous jobs I've had. I'm currently working for a smaller consulting firm on government projects, most recent work was on some internal applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Happens whenever you do a job where you have to pay a lot of attention, the eyes and the brain get tired imo.

I'm a welder by trade, spent a couple years working for one of the biggest heavy machinery manufacturers in the world (think big yellow tractors they always have on roadwork & construction sites.) It was a lot of fun. I left in 2014 to start a business with my brother doing event rental - definitely more fun and rewarding. I still get under the hood every now and then, it's just to fix festival tents or stage decks instead of huge deforestation machines. What sort of event rental do you do? Can imagine it being interesting depending on what you rent out

I've been an electrical engineer for the past 10 years, started my apprenticeship when i was 16 and fully qualified by 20. Currently working for an industrial laundry company in Auckland, New Zealand fixing all their giant wash equipment. It's a filthy job but pays good and I work 4 days then get 4 days off which is the best shift i've ever had. Had a mental blip in 2015 and got disenchanted with the job so became a retail supervisor working for an outdoor clothing company which was interesting ha ha

Hopefully you have some leave coming out and can get away from screens, helped me.

Any tips on how to grow into that job? i am not this person but i can say the best way to grow into a specific role like that is just do it. learn everything from ur OSPF to ur subnet masking in ur head like a weirdo. ur wildcards and alllll ur acls. learn learn learn learn learn. maybe do some courses (cisco is useful). Then if you already work in IT, try get involved with the networking. If you have 0 IT background, get in at the bottom and work ur way up. Would also reccomend building ur own setup at home for testing and fun, cos then you can apply real world situations and know how to fix them. VMs are ur friend here.

I work in internal communications. My current role is ok because I manage everything and the benefits are good but I don't have any budget or resources so I can't do anything too creative. I'm probably going to stick it out until next year unless I can get a promotion.
