I've got the illest bias cause I put 1k+ hours on the first one but IMO it is. Maps are 10x larger than their D1 counterparts and the enemies have all refreshed designs with some actually behaving a little different. Story is a lot more dynamic (albeit a little short) but fits the narrative and sets itself up pretty well. If you don't have people to play with then it'll be a little dry.

What's the ratio of PvE to PvP? Also how varied is the PvE content? Are there only set missions which are the exact same every time you run them or are there randomly generated missions/activities?

After playing a couple hours last night, holy shit i'm underwhelmed. Game has a serious tuning issue, whenever you're seen from behind or the side you're basically dead no matter what you do. Fucking sucks because I really like the gun play in this game. Seems like its just Hand Cannon or Show Stopper spam every single pvp game I'm a part of. No wonder I refunded Destiny 1 on xbox live. I feel the exact same way about it. The strike kind of sucks, too, because it's literally the exact same every time and the boss is such a massive sponge. This was one of my most anticipated releases this year, but the beta has really put me off. This, guess I won't buy it after the open beta.

It is basically Destiny 1.5. Almost everything from the original Destiny is in this game with slight modifications. Story missions pretty much break down into formulaic events same with any adventures or other content. It is very much so a game that repeats the same things over and over for you to progress. I think comparing it to World of Warcraft really is the best way to help some people wrap their heads around if the game's formula works for them. You run the same strikes (dungeons) over and over again, the missions are pretty standard in their methods although there were a handful that reminded me of some Halo missions, and then you do various activities afterwards that are mashups of everything else you've done in the game. The raids are always the real piece of content that always ends up being exciting and has their best design and gameplay work. If you didn't enjoy the original Destiny you probably won't enjoy Destiny 2. If you're looking for a game that is fun to play with friends, grind events over and over again, and have an unforgetable experience with the raids then this is the game for you.

Got it yesterday and really like it. As long as there's a loot system and I can shoot stuff I'm good.

If you didn't like Destiny 1, you won't like this. You will do the same things over and over to level up. If you don't like doing that sort of thing, this game is not for you. There's some variations in the events/strikes, but they will repeat A LOT!

I don't really mind repetitive content as I've played a fair bit of Diablo 3, but if everything in the game is like the strike from the beta, no thanks.

Well the strikes will be the same, the public events will rotate between a handful of different possibilities, and the raid will be the same. The things that change are the weekly nightfall and other weekly milestones. Basically if you liked Destiny but felt like you didn't get a full game than Destiny 2 may be for you. But if you didn't think Destiny did enough than you'll likely still feel that way. The new game doesn't really redefine what the core gameplay loop is, they didn't take any chances at revolutionizing what they built but rather polished the game. For some people, judging on feedback I've been reading, that is enough to sell them on the game. For others, it may need to be a pass or a wait until a sale. Waiting for the expansions and for everything to be complete really isn't a bad idea. What they've built the original game into pales in comparison to what it was year 1. But at the same time, people who play then won't ever experience the changes and the living world that Destiny creates. Hopefully that helps with your purchasing decision. I honestly feel like the game outlets giving this game such high praise weren't fans of the original or feel off before Bungie refined every aspect. As someone who has been playing since year 1 I can confess that they didn't add much to the formula. But for someone like me, I can get past that and still enjoy the game. Others are going to be disappointed by that and may want to wait or pass.

Others are going to be disappointed by that and may want to wait or pass. adding to the first point, the public events do vary, but for a particular location, that public event is essentially the same one in that spot. If you go to another public event spot, it'll be a different type of event. They're totally optional, but as of now, that's what we have as an option to get better gear to level up our light until the raid drops and trials of osiris. On Saturday, for example, I literally only did public events. I didn't play any other aspect of the game and it was pretty brutal tbh. I did the same events (maybe 2-4) over and over for at least 6+ hours. It was an annoying grind, but now that I've passed that part of the grind, I don't HAVE to do public events. I can do other events like Nick mentioned: nightfall, raid, trials of osiris, crucible, strikes, etc. You don't have to take the route I did, but from videos I've seen online there's an efficient way to lvl up asap and I took that path.

Has anyone created a TDM clan on PS4 yet? I tried to earlier today but "The Daily Mosh" was already taken, and for whatever reason their clan search page is fucked up.

We do have clan but Bungie booted Matthew Reptar and myself when they switched it over to Destiny 2. I'm working to get control of the clan back so we can make a clan banner everyone enjoys and work on event planning. www.bungie.net/en/ClanV2/Chat?groupid=330837
