One of my favorite war movies I've seen in a long long time. Def watch on imax if you get a chance.

Yo so I actually got super bamboozled on this one! In my home state of Georgia there's a Regal theater that still has a 70mm projector - they roll it out for Dunkirk in intended format on the Imax screen. It's neat, you can actually hear the film rolling on the reel when it's quiet, and the sound quality of the film is unreal. Paid $22 for the ticket which felt high especially since we drove an hour to get there but my friends are all film students and so it mattered a lot to them that we go to this showing. Anyway 20m into the movie the projector basically shits itself and cuts to black. Managers come in and tell us all basically it's not gonna come back up and we all have to go home with a refund. I was upset and so I went to complain and got a couple free passes for each member of my group from the ordeal, but I still have only seen the first 20 minutes and I need to find time to go back and finish the movie

Really enjoyed it. I like that none of the stars in the film were actually "stars" of the film. Coming from one who still enjoys reading about WWII, people should go see it!

Felt more like a documentary than a film at times. Must have been horrible not knowing whether the next plane you saw over your head might be your last moment on Earth

Would've been great if they added more battle scenes of the Nazis gaining towards the beach. Other than that, I enjoyed it!

I love Christopher Nolan's movies...so I definitely want to see it. Not sure if my wife does, though. We shall see.

Felt more like a documentary than a film at times. Had the same feeling, especially with the "lack" of dialogue and I loved that it was really showing the cruelties of war without that typical pathos.

Would've been great if they added more battle scenes of the Nazis gaining towards the beach. Other than that, I enjoyed it! The Wehrmacht's Panzers actually had momentum on their side and could've completely broken the BEF and French armies' backs at Dunkirk but squabbling and politics got in the way, giving the British and French enough time to escape to England, so from a historical perspective, I don't think adding more battle scenes would've been feasible. Glad you enjoyed it though!!!

How does this stack up to the classics like Full metal, Apocalypse Now or Saving Private Ryan?

Wasn't crazy about it the first time because the structure was quite jarring. Absolutely loved it the second time. I'd give it an A.
