I’ll be going to see “A Star Is Born” tonight as long as I don’t shoot myself in the foot and fall asleep really early. Will marshal my thoughts and throw it up in the “last movie...” thread when I get back.

I'll be there! Well, not at your theatre, but at mine.

FilmStruck is shutting down just a week after I discovered it. Planning to binge the catalogue while I can.

Since your going through something of a mini-renaissance with faux-horror/horror-lite films v9733xa, you should totally check out “The Innocents” with Deborah Kerr. essien, mayhaps you have any suggestions towards films of this ilk he may enjoy, seeing as you prolly know more of these types of films than I do lol?

I'd back your call for The Innocents. Check out Diabolique (1955). French horror/thriller that was way ahead of its time.

Okay, I wasn't that hyped about that Bumblebee movie but after they showed the final trailer and it showed the battle of cybertron, it got me a little bit excited to see how are they going to use that into the movie. That's all I want for a transformers movie.

I've been thinking a lot about Lt Dan today. I cant help but wonder when he called in that airstrike on his own position knowing if he'd be going out in a wave of glory. I wonder if part of him knew when he called in the strike if he might be given a Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions, only to have Forrest jump in and save him at the last second. I wonder if part of him resented Forrest for that when they first reconnected and if he viewed Forrest's medal as an honor that should have been bestowed upon to him.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's one of the many reasons why the film deserves to be called one of the best of the 1990s, not for the pop history reasons most people would give (Baby Boomers fuckin love this movie), but because it's also incredibly smart with its supporting characters, chief among them Lieutenant Dan himself. His character arc is incredible. Gary Sinise deserved every award for that performance.

Didn't he actually say in the film something along the lines of "You, an idiot, received the medal that I should have been given." ?
