So the pandemic happened quite early in my part of the world. Chinese New Year was at the end of January, and that was the last time I went into the gym. And like other had mentioned above, yeah, the gym was closed for a while. The gym was closed from the end of January until the very end of April. Once it re-opened, my wife was not willing to let me go back yet. She still wasn't convinced that it would be safe enough. So I basically lost all sense of routine for what I had been building up since a little over a year ago.
Well, I entered the gym again for the first time since January on Monday this week! It took a lot of willpower because my work has become way heavier this year, and I feel awful at the end of a work day. It took me two weeks of contemplating going and then not going to finally get my feet through the front doors. And you know, it instantly felt great to be back. I went to my old arm routine I used to do almost every time as a warm up. I almost completed it with both arms, but failed on the 4th set of hammer curls with my left arm. I guess that showed that I had lost some of my ability, but I expect to get it back soon enough. Also, I went back the next day (Tuesday) to do leg day, which was probably too easy, since my legs aren't that sore all in all, but my arms on the other hand...hahaha, uh, my arms cannot straighten at the elbow now. I've got an almost 90-degree angle bend 24/7 for now. It always happened to me after doing a lot of bicep work fresh out of not exercising for such a long time. I know it will finally relax and heal within the next few days, so I will not be going back today, but my plan will be to continue doing the gym routine on Mon, Tues, and Thursday every week. It feels so damn good to get back into that routine. I'm proud of myself for finally getting in again.

Is anybody into Crossfit? I've always been a standard gym goer, into lifting heavy and trying to put on mass. But over the last year I've grown completely bored of it and have actually had a change in how I view physical fitness.I no longer just want to just try and get as big as possible, heavy weights just make me feel stiff as hell and non athletic. As well as the fact that, with that gym routine and my body type, if i dont eat 100% clean, I will always be a little "husky" hahaha I'm looking to do something that has ton more movement, to loosen me up, burn more calories, sweat more and ultimately feel more healthy.
Since I'm moving to a new town next month, I've decided not to join the standard gym and instead sign up for Crossfit. The Crossfit gym in town has two high quality instructors (the woman competes at the world crossfit games annually). Anyways, I know Crossfit takes alot of shit online but it seems interesting and like something that will slim me down but also keep my muscles in relatively good shape.
Anyone do Crossfit? Positives? Negatives?

Negatives? I really don't rate commercial crossfit. Most of the time it's just doing jerky movements which is more injury prone and not even as effective (e.g. kipping pullup). It's also very culty, so that's a no from me dawg.

I'm not going to pay for a long term membership to start, just a few drop in sessions to see how I feel about it.

I thought Zeke’s comment about it being “culty” was great. While I don’t know if it’s the same word I would have used, I know exactly what he’s talking about and I agree totally. I’ve not tried it myself but I know it would really be difficult for me with my low cardio endurance.

My exercise routine got destroyed back in November when I kept catching a cold (probably three back to back colds from early November through end of December) with just plain awful luck. On top of that, my work got really busy during that time because report cards were due and here you have to write a summary on each student. When you've got more than 120 students, it takes many hours. So when I finally got ready to get back to the gym, my gym closed in mid January! :/
It finally opened last week on Monday, and I managed to find time to go once. They remodeled and changed out some equipment. I got a really good upper body workout with some abdominals focus as well at the end. It's crazy how a good workout after a long break from it can make you feel different and even make you quickly take on a new shape, provided that you continue it. I'm planning to get back in tonight and restart my 3 nights a week routine that I used to have before I got sick. Wish me luck! When I was going regularly, I felt way healthier than I have these last several weeks. And I was happier then too.

I used to back in 2012-2013, but then I moved to Poland and left my bike back in Hungary. I also haven't done any exercise in the last month since I got COVID. I read so many places cautioning people to be careful about going back to training after you test negative.

There have been a few people in the group rides that got it and when they come back to bike, they say its hard to get back into it and they don’t feel right for a month or two. Are your parents still in Hungary? Time to get that bike back duuuudeeee

She had essentially no symptoms, and I had cold-like symptoms. I felt exhausted for a week or two after I got my negative test result, but now I feel pretty okay. She started feeling out of breath recently unfortunately - I hope it's nothing serious or lingering. We are both signed up or referred for some post-covid tests currently, so just gotta see the results at this point.

Are you jacked now?

Are you jacked now? Haha, far from it! Past 3-4 years have been spent climbing, I got really heavily into it. I have been also doing running kind of on and off as cross-training - although I'd replace that with road biking without a doubt if I could haha. Some pictures from past summer of me climbing: Do you have any cool biking pics of you?

I got into rock climbing in a gym a year or two ago, but the lack of outside climbing in Florida is REAL. Trad climbing is the way to go man. I dont...but here is my bike :-) (totally forgot how to post a picture lmao) BIKE

I don't always have someone to climb with, and it's good for explosiveness and strength! But I am definitely not a typical "boulder bro" lmao. I've never actually done any trad climbing - I prefer sport climbing where you have the bolts already and you just clip in with the quick draws. I wish I could be outside more, but the nearest crag I am aware of is ~2-3 hours away, so mostly I actually spend in climbing gyms. That's a sweet bike! I have this back at home:
