deftones Diamond eyes took me a good minute to get used to honestly but after I jammed to it while studying I instantly got hooked with it
Also fossil youths new album A Glimpse Of Joy took a minute to grow on me, but after seeing them live I fucking loved it. The band really came into their own with the album

I knew about The Dillinger Escape Plan FOREVERRRR and never really took the time to care until their breakup. Such a crucial band.

The Acacia Strain for me. They were always too much for me when I first started listening to heavy music (I preferred Emmure at the time, and I still do. Take that too the grave). But last summer I sat down and listened to 3750 and was blown the fuck away. Listen to it everyday.

Post-The Dead Walk TAS ruins a lot of the pre-Continent TAS experience. 3750 is a beast of an album. So is the one before that, but it has some dull songs.

Definitely Balance and Composure, they're a band I'd heard of years back on tumblr but never listened to properly until they announced their breakup. Absolutely essential band for me now

Death. When I think of Death Metal I hear Cannibal Corpse, Vital Remains, Nile. I thought of Death as just a boring, melodic, old man Thrash Metal band. Now that I’m older and don’t need to listen to downtuned blastbeat brutality 24/7 I’m realizing that I missed out on some really sweet riffs.

It wasn't baaaaad, per se, I can see your point; I do agree though, when compared to "The Things We Think We're Missing", it's not up to snuff.

I really enjoy Light We Made tbh, it's obviously not on the level of the first two but when I listen to it independently of what they were before then, there are some really cool sounds/ideas on it. I've enjoyed a lot of the "softer" albums that bands from the whole post-hardcore world have put out in the last few years, which is kind of surprising to me considering how I used to be such an elitist about bands mellowing out
