Just start, man. I sucked at first but it's something you can practice easily and quickly and now I can do some stuff that I'm not ashamed of, haha. Any specific type of markers/pens I should use to facilitate it? The classic Crayola brush pens are a surprisingly good and cheap solution. The Crayligraphy tutorials cover the basics and it's a fun way to get started. Other good references are the Tombow ABT, the Lyra Aqua Brush Duo and the Pentel Fude Touch. These are flexible enough to get that nice contrast in line thickness but hard enough not to be a nightmare to handle.

I bought a parallel pen, but I am not a massive fan of it.
