Alexisonfire- Otherness (just found out about this release from earlier this year!)
Wow, lots of feelings on this one, as it’s the first album they’ve released since Old Crows, which was in 2007 if I’m not mistaken (don’t care to do the research). I was a massive fan of the band, especially for the first three albums, and then Old Crows had a different energy and I wasn’t having it. That being said, they finally got something out there and this album is even more different from those first three albums. But this time, I think I love it. I didn’t love it on the first rotation and almost didn’t expect to listen to it again, but here I am on the second listen through the album and it’s just so fucking good! They’re really making great use of Dallas Green’s strength, which is his awesome clean vocals. He possesses more than the usual clarity and diversity of sound here, as he also hits some really soulful lines this time around, and the writing is just so different. Doesn’t feel like an Alexisonfire album, but as many are quoting around the release of this album, “We’re not the kids we used to be.” Great stuff!
Next up is the new City of Caterpillar, right?
Hmm, I don’t know what City of Caterpillar is. Guess I’ll look it up.
Apparently this was a secret 'birthday' performance for Matt Bayles. Here's holding thumbs we'll see a proper re-union performance in the near future.
Ha, those old people in the audience were not ready for that heaviness. They're dancing like it's a Beach Boys surf record. MORE MOSH PITS, and MORE STAGE DIVES.
