Went to see this last night and I enjoyed it. I’m a super casual fan and I don’t watch many of these high budget blockbuster type movies. Maybe that’s why I had fun while everyone else seems to be so angry. Probably a 3.5/5 for me. Absolutely loved the Porgs.
(I really like spoilers and spoiling things for myself even with tv shows I watch, I read the entire ep by ep on them before I even finish it.) reading this and listening to spoiler podcasts make me realize that I made a good choice in not seeing it in a crowded theater with people heckling or over excitement like when I saw episode III.
ill wait till January to see it. I'm still pretty excited about it tbh. ill probably like it also but thats just the movie goer I am.
TBH, I enjoyed it more than TFA, as it felt (for me), aesthetically similar to the original trilogy. Very Flash Gordon-ish with its build ups and payoffs, and I know Star Wars was partially inspired by the Flash Gordon serials of the 30's.

Having finally seen it and having read these comments, I echo a lot of the same frustrations as everyone else. I didn't want to come away with a "fanboy-type opinion" about it, but I certainly feel very underwhelmed by the movie and I absolutely loved The Force Awakens. This felt like a proper book-ended movie for me; great start, lousy middle and a good (If not overly dragged out) ending. If anything it's made me appreciate how good Rogue One was by comparison.
My wife and I got to see this Christmas Eve in IMAX 3D and visually it was absolutely stunning - kid you not there was a couple scenes I could of sworn I was right there with them. My wife is a HUGE star wars fan and she really enjoyed it, as for me not so much (haven't even seen all of them) but I thought it was pretty good. Im sure I probably wouldn't have liked it as much if it wasnt in IMAX 3D.

I finally got around to going to see this at a theater, I thought it was a good movie, the one thing I didn't like about it was there was too much comedy in the movie though. It was still good however and I enjoyed it.
