This band has some neat little melodic flourishes, especially in the thrilling solos. I don't always like bands that lean a little more into the classic death metal era that I don't care for much, but these guys are all over the place and keep it fun and fast. And I don't hate the vocals! What do you think? I hadn't heard that one yet. Thanks for sharing. I probably missed it because I generally skip over death metal bands that identify as progressive or technical, as it's just not my cup of tea. That being said, this track here was pretty nice to my ears anyway. It's a bit more treble heavy and modern than I like my death metal, but I'd be curious to hear the rest of the album now that I've heard this. I really enjoyed that section that began at 2:37. That was a really cool transition and resulting new section. I don't hear any classic death metal elements here. I would love to hear a different vocal on this, perhaps even a mix of more lower vocals and clean vocals along with it. I'm not really into that Black Dahlia Murder range of vocals that this kind of has. But all in all, this was a really cool preview. Thanks for showing it to us.

Undeath: The new album is out! This Death Metal act strongly followed in the footsteps of Cannibal Corpse with this new record that just came out two or three days ago. I've been listening to it a lot. It's a bit of a The Bleeding-era Cannibal Corpse approach in color and grooves like the later album The Wretched Spawn. In addition, there are nods to early Suffocation, Morbid Angel, and Carcass in pockets on the album. While the material is highly derivative, it somehow manages to still sound like Undeath. This is an album that is quickly getting a lot of attention, which says a lot for such a lesser-known band. I'm sure being now signed to Prosthetic Records helps them a bit. And also having fans like The Black Dahlia Murder's vocalist Trevor Strnad recommending them is also a healthy dose of promotion. These guys are going to explode this year and I have to say, they deserve it. They are crushing it!

Slimelord: This is a band I'd like to see more from. They just released a single, which is here called "Death on the Bayou." I think what this band does is far more interesting than what most of the premiere death metal bands are doing, and I even think this is far more interesting than that badass Undeath album I mentioned just above. Slimelord just have a really cool thing going, with a cavernous sound, chaotic bits, doom bits, pinch harmonics that they stretch out in uniquely musical ways, and a really badass vocal approach. I would love a full-length from them this year. Let's hope this single release is a sign for it.

Pure fat guy metal. Maybe just a touch -core for you stringypoo, but it's got speed and many heavy things.

Lol at "Pure fat guy metal" I think it says everything for me that the first breakdown was the only thing I liked in the song. No me gusta. I really dislike the hyper-fast drumming action. Reminds me of those fast trap beats in trap music. Vocalist is fine, and the guitarists have chops, but I wish they did something different with them. Not shitting on them, just not my cup of tea. Bonus points for opposite-facing bass player. He gets the Jimi Hendrix award.

Although they have a name like a lame early 2010s deathcore-sounding band, nonetheless Beyond the Structure is super technical with a dash of groove metal. Like this a lot, the bass especially which is loud and prominent.

How about this one?
Too far out of the genre?

FWIW, I should be getting my copy of 200 Stab Wounds’ “Slave to the Scalpel” sometime this week. Just dummy hard/heavy death metal that’s fun to throw on and crowdkill in your one man living room mosh pit.

How about this one? Too far out of the genre? Don’t know how I missed this post in the evening. Or maybe the time zone thing is tripping me up and I didn’t? Anyway, glad I caught this one. I might find I’ll hate a full-length of this, especially since my suspicion is that this will be by far the highlight of the album, but for what it’s worth, this track did it for me. Had a lot of great qualities and moments on it. I especially liked those Periphery-esque high impact cleans soaring over the heavy bits near the end. And perhaps another reason why a I dug this was because it also has some similarities to some stuff by Between the Buried and Me, whom we both love. Great post. I’ll see if this has released yet, as I don’t know them. If so, I’ll check the full-length. Also, I freaking hate headless guitars. They look silly. And I find 9 times out of 10 I hate the bands I’m listening to that use them. Lol.

They seem like a pretty new band with only an EP in 2018 and this recent full-length. It was literally just released days ago!

I really like that track you posted, which is the closer track of the album. I just happened to listen through the album uninterrupted now. It’s never really enough to judge an album off one listen, but for this time I’d have to say it largely met my expectations in that the best track was absolutely the one you posted. The bulk of the album felt much like a Born of Osiris album called The Discovery if my memory is right, which isn’t bad, but just overstays its welcome in all of the cool things it does for me. If the album throughout had more in common with the things that made the closer track so special, I’d be much more excited to listen again. That being said, this is off of one listen, so I’ll go back through it soon.

These guys just signed with Relapse and they're pretty rad. Bit of grindcore energy and furious blast beats, albeit in a 4-minute song.
