But there are others roving the wilderness and the job quickly devolves into a fight to survive.Viewing deadline: 18 March 2019
Paging tao , stfubaker , stuartoxlade , Ghosty , theblackpage , v9733xa , itschewthirty and anyone else who wants to get involved. So here we are, the first entry in the Marsh Film Club. This film was selected by itschewthirty , who will be leading the discussion (I hope). I've set a viewing deadline of 18 March, so make sure you watch it before then and please don't post any thoughts/spoilers until after that date. We can always delay the deadline if people are struggling to watch it in time. Feel free to use this thread to talk generally in the meantime - let us know if you're taking part, any difficulties tracking down the film, or just to say you've watched it. Chew: It would be cool if you could think of some discussion points for us and post them on 18 March, but no worries if you're not able to. I'm sure someone else can step up.

Let's go. I found it over on uloz.to, and I'm DL'ing it now. Slightly off topic, but this'll feel weird as I haven't watched a film on my computer in over 3 years (for context, my laptop is over 11 years old and I can't stream anything off of it onto my TV.).

Their site got taken down a few years ago, I guess they've now teamed up with YTS (another well-respected crew).

I'll do my best to come up with some talking points when I have some downtime this weekend!

This is great. I'm excited to do this and hope we can find the time to watch the film, take notes, and have a discussion. Related aside: should i withhold posting a review on Letterboxd until the date we've stipulated here?

Related aside: should i withhold posting a review on Letterboxd until the date we've stipulated here? Yes. That’s what I’m going to do, mainly because I have so many of you guys added and followed over on Letterboxd, I feel it would be unfair if I watched it and uploaded a review before adding to the discussion here.

I'm just going to go ahead and post this before I forget. The discussion points are nonspecific enough to not spoil the film.
After the majority of ya'll have watched the film, here are a few vague discussion points that I noted: - Attention to detail (costumes, weapons, props, etc.). Sidenote: props to Gopher for informing me how important this was to the film via their production crew and directors.
- Use of the films budget to highlight the world building of the film without over-saturating the visual effects. (Budget: $3.9 million)
- Did you enjoy the pacing of the film? Did the story line flow in your favor as a moviegoer?
- Pros and cons of the film, in your opinion (obviously).
Please, you're not obligated to answer any of these bullet points. What matters the most to me is if you enjoyed the film and would recommend it to your piers. So lastly, would you recommend this to your loved ones, friends, family, etc.?
P.S. enjoy this tidbit of information called the Prospectors Booklet: imgur.com/a/fGqisra

Yeah I think it's better that way. It can sometimes influence the way I feel about a film if I read beforehand that someone loved it/hated it.

Okay one more question, although it could wait til later since it doesn't seem to apply to this movie for any of us.
Are we going to only pick films that none of us has seen? That will prove to be very difficult unless we choose brand new releases that couldn't possibly be viewed earlier. Not that I mind watching (some) movies more than once, but it's just something to think about as we try this each month.

I think it’s more fun if the film is a new experience for everyone. We can probably just take it on a case by case basis when someone makes a suggestion. It might be that we end up going with more niche/cult films. There’s a lot of hidden gems out there that I’m sure none of us have seen.

Me: goes to library to find obscure Asian films just to heckle v9733xa with.
