Continuing the ESP LTD hype in this thread with my ESP EC-1000 2015 40th Anniversary edition. Mahogany body and neck, maple top in satin black (not a fan of the glossy versions), ebony fingerboard, and EMG 57 & 66 pickups in black chrome. I always liked the Les Paul type body, but never liked how much they weighed. I had a low end Gibson SG in highschool so I guess that's why I like lighter feels for my guitars. When I tried one of the EC-1000 body's at my nearest Sam Ash that's when I knew it was the perfect fit. Had to sell my Mesa boogie rocket 44 combo tube amp a few years back, so I've managed without an amp by using a Digitech RP360 XP. A multi-FX/amp modeler/recording interface/headphone amp. Not as good as the real thing, but it's allowed me to experiment with a lot of different pedal/amp combos. Trying to slowly save my cash for a new amp, but bills and life keep pushing that back B-|

Also installed emg 57 in my regular EC 1000. Wonder how this beauty sounds when compared to the regular. How much did you paid for the guitar?

Im looking to start experimenting with heavier sounds Though question...There is a lot of shit out there to let the kids jump on the hype train i can recommend the ESP LTD H1007 or the Schecter KM7 Schecter I played both and was very satisfied. Also the one I posted at the start of the thread. Ibanez 7 strings in the mid class should also do a good job. I wouldn´t go beneath maybe 900$, because there is a lot of trash and you would regret a bad 7 string.

I got the guitar with the special hard-case included for just under $1000. I was able to get everything on a really good 4th of July sale at Musiciansfriend.com. Great site to buy gear from, been using it for close to 8 years now.

I owned a early 2000 ESP Viper at one point. Nice guitar but at some point I went down the "vintage road" (meaning traditional guitars like fenders, gibsons) and never looked back.

I'm hoarding shit guitars. I have 8 atm, the 3 main ones:
Ibanez RG321w/ passive EMG's ESP LTD MH-400 w/ active EMG's Ibanez GIO 7 string
Had a Peavey ValveKing 100w head and cab then downsized to 75w Line 6 Amplifi and 100w Ashton GA100 combo.
Barely use them anymore now and just play through TSE x50 and any other plugins.

I cant bring myself to go back to ibanez i just find them to have too much of a metal sound Do you have any preference for pick ups with a 7 string?

Yeah i like the Dimarzio Crunchlab 7 and Liquidfire. The stock pickups of my LTD BS-7 ... im really impressed and comfortable with them. They have a clear and briliant tone full of mids and you can easily cut trough in a band. I think john petrucci used them for years Love them
