i also picked up the dark tower after years of my manager suggesting it to me. figured id read it one day to see what all the fuss is about and why people were excited for that movie. I've said it before, it's kind of a polairizing series. I absolutely loved the first two books and really enjoyed 3&4, but the last three books left a really sour taste in my mouth. It just got weird, like really really really weird and it didn't sit well for me. That being said don't let my opinion defer you from this too much because I know several people who consider The Dark Tower the finest thing they've ever read. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you feel like you aren't enjoying it don't be afraid to walk away. Stephen king has really been hit and miss with me . I've walked away from many of his books. It's probably the genre to be honest. Or even the author itself. I've heard a lot of people say the first three were worth reading and the rest were just a "just to see what happens" read.

That's exactly what I did lol. I think I might have said it earlier in this thread but FWIW The Long Walk is my favorite King I've ever read. The ending sucked, but that's King for you.

Never been big into reading. Last book I worked through was The Ice Man on a flight for work. Any other crime readers here? Any Recommendations?

Just finished Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles" last night, and it was excellent. I still have Stephen King's "Mr. Mercedes" to get through and Alford Huxley's "Brave New World" as well.

Currently reading: After reading this I have most of Chris Jericho's books to finish and I'd like to start The Outsiders. I usually always take breaks with my Edgar Allen Poe collection or Shakespeare.

I love to read, but modern (re: 20th century) sci-fi in the vein of Vonnegut, Asimov, Huxley and Bradbury I've sadly neglected, so working to rectify that. I'm really hoping I'll enjoy it, my bro likes it. Fahrenheit 451 is still my favorite work of fiction though.

I really liked the book, and also the old film. Wasn't aware of a new adaptation coming out.

Got two books the other day. First up which im about 1/3 the way into right now is 'Artemis'. Same author who wrote the Martian which I really enjoyed.
Secondly, I also picked up 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep'. I saw this was the inspiration for Blade Runner 2049 (which I have yet to see) but since its only about 200 pages it seemed like a quick and easy read.

If anyone is into odd narrative perspectives, one of my favourite novels is by a Scottish author called Ali Smith titled 'The Accidentals'
Really amazing and I still read it once a year ever since I picked it up during my first year of university.

Love seeing people start posting in the Books thread! I'm currently reading Skullsworn by Brian Staveley and am devouring it. Just finished Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson and the dude continues to prove why he's my favorite author. Alternatively I've been listening to The Wheel of Time and am on book 11, kinda ready to be done with this series. And I've got Ready Player One or The Goblin Emperor on my shelf for muh next book.

Asimov is one of my favorite scifi writers, ever. the foundation trilogy is a work of greatness. would recommend for anyone that likes scifi. also I can't stop laughing at your signature hahah

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" is an interesting novel, and it reads well. However, it is very much different than the "Blade Runner" films that take inspiration from it.
