Hey everyone, it's about that time! Let's get one of the best parts about TDM rolling! Secret Santa 2019!
For those not in the know, here's how it works: Secret Santa is a popular holiday gift-exchange game. We get a pool of users (ideally 8 or more!) From that pool we randomly assign each participant to another person who is playing - then they buy & ship a gift to this person! Traditionally we've split the groups up by continents to avoid massive shipping costs.
Here are the rules!
1. Each user will provide a short list of ideas or guidelines so their Santa isn't flying totally blind.
2. There's not a spending limit. Don't feel the need to break the bank, but don't just send a card with a $5 bill in it either lmao.
3. You don't deliver, you get banned and mocked eternally in the Hall of Shame!
4. Make sure you ship with a service that provides tracking numbers! If you can't provide a tracking number for me to religiously obsess over, it'll be assumed you didn't actually send anything!
5. Make sure your gifts arrive before Christmas Day! (I'd recommend purchasing no later than 12/15, as shipping costs can get high in the week leading up to Christmas!)
X. Not a rule per say, but generally most users who participate join the VIP club! (It's how I got mine!)
If you want to get a better idea of how it works or a feel for the general gift scope, I'd recommend checking out the threads from 2017 and 2018!
Sign ups are officially open until end of day Friday 11/22. I'll send out who gets who on Saturday the 23rd leaving a little over a month for the fun part! If you're new to TDM or haven't participated much on the boards, just let me know if you'd like to take part and I'll review it with some of the mods here.
Last thing: Last year we didn't have anyone from Eurasia play, it was all North Americans. Let's try to get this sucker going across the oceans again!
Looking forward to another year of holiday love in the marsh. While the perfect record stretches back 4 years, we've only had two perfect years back to back on this version of the site. That said, let's go for the Threepeat!
