With the new year just around the corner, I was thinking whether you guys have any goals you are setting for 2020? For me it's been mostly formulated in my head, but some parts still need to be clarified.
Feel free to use this thread to review your 2019 resolutions as well - let's support each other and get some discussion going.
My goals for 2019 were: - Run 360km/223 miles -- The year haven't finished yet, but I am currently at 710km/441milles, so nearly double the original goal - Boulder 6C/V5 -- Done. I've been doing a lot of climbing this year, focusing on bouldering for around 9 months. - Lead Climb 6c/5.11a -- I am very close to doing this, but it might slip. I feel I got better overall on lead, but I only did it for around ~3-4 months
My goals for 2020: - Run a sub 2h half marathon -- Running has always been a recovery activity for me, but I do find some joy in it as well, so I think I will go for a half marathon. My best goal would be sub 2 hours, but I need to set some intermediate goals as well. - Learning to do a saddle split -- I am quite flexible currently, but I think it can be helpful during climbing, plus it's a fun challenge. - Doing 3 pullups with 40kg extra weight -- This year I was training weighted pullups and I was doing 15kg extra 3x6, so I think 1x3 with 40kg is doable but challenging - Be a bit more active in software engineering in my free time -- I am starting a new job at the start of January (due to redundancy in my current place) which I think could give me some extra motivation in this - Continue learning Polish -- I am on a 228 day streak on Duolingo, so I've been really consistent about it this year - Climb a lot, enjoy and don't get injured
So what are your goals, resolutions, bad habits you want to give up, etc?

I know it’s cliché, but I really want/need to lose some chunk off of me. I’m 6’2” and hovering between 250-260; from a BMI that’s pretty morbid obese-area, and physically I don’t show much, but I’ve had issues with asthma ever since I was 10 or so, and losing weight and exercising more would go a HELL of a long way towards alleviating that situation, so that’s my main goal for 2020.

As I probably said last year, I don’t tend to do New Years resolutions, but I guess I’ve got things on my list afterall: 1. Land a new job in a different school this year. I just interviewed for one, and hopefully it will turn out to be the one, but we’ll see. 2. Up my weight training game at the gym. I would like to curl 12.5 or even 15kg free weights by next December. Would like to improve my lateral pulls. Work harder on my shoulders, and stop being such a pussy about core and abdominal exercises. Lol 3. Continue working towards fluency of Chinese 4. Practice violin more this year, and perhaps even perform more as a soloist this year. Learn new repertoire. 5. Try to find a better balance of life and work, as it’s always difficult for me.

I want to set some goals for 2020 but I don't know what. I felt kind of aimless for the past few months. First world problems when all your basic needs are met.

-Stop caring about what people around me think of me. I'm constantly overthinking stuff about what people think of me and the way I behave and I notice that I'm almost a different kind of person in what I am really am. People who got to know me better this year all said ''I thought you didn't like me or thought I was an asshole just because it's hard for me to open up to people and I don't talk alot about myself''.
-Losing weight. I signed up to a new gym in town 2 months ago. The first month was solid and I went 4/5 times a week. Then I went on my vacation, started my new job and I haven't been back since. There is also an American Football in another city 30 minutes away which I wanna visit and participate in. Wanted to go to the try outs this year but ended up not going because as mentioned above I overthink stuff and just think I'm not good enough for it or think that they won't like me.
^ Basically these two can be described as: -Stop being so negative about myself.
-Learn more about the music industry. I volunteer in a music venue (mostly bar shifts) but I wanna learn more about production, sound, lightning etc.
-Save up money, go somewhere fare. I wanna visit New Zealand/Australia. My plan is to take out € 100 a week from the ATM and put in a small locked box/safe. Also throwing in all my change/money I get from parents/grandma and after 6 months I want to open it and see how much I got and put it into my savings account.
-Buy a new couch. Just because I want a new couch haha.
-Fly to 10 (new) destinations under € 50,-. I have a thing for searching cheap flights (one time at 4 am I found a flight from Brussel to Dubai for € 185 (which took over 24 hours of travelling). So I want to try and see how cheap I can travel. Luckily with Ryanair that isn't so hard.
-Learn to play guitar/bass. Some people I know always ask why I'm not in a band so it's something worth exploring.

Ok, so I decided on a few targets/goals for 2020: - Meditate once a day. I fell off the wagon lately and I miss having the mental clarity it gives me. - Cook a new recipe once a week. - Read one book a month minimum. - Try a new restaurant once a month (joint new year's resolution with a friend). - Visit every museum and art gallery in my city. - Work my way through this list of films.

This year I wanna get way more physically fit. Started at the gym for the first time ever a couple of months ago so I wanna keep that up.
Do heaps more yoga and get better at that.
Practice guitar a lot more so I can try and create some of the soinds I'm hearing in my head.
Improve my general relationships with everyone and either buy a house or move to Aus.
Continue developing my skills at work and get all the qualifications and that. I started a new job at the end of November and that will give me the opportunity to do that.
So not much then really...

- Be more active physically; it's too easy to think "it's too cold outside" and skip a run, but I started off the new year and decade today with a fast (for me, at least) 5K run today - Figure out what I'm doing with myself and get an actual job; I had some really obnoxious job rejections in 2019 and I'm tired of job hunting, so I hope this year isn't a flop like last - Be more active on the Mush; pretty much everyone who had the capacity to make this place a drag has filtered out and I'd like to make more of an effort around these parts - Be honest with the girl I like and with myself; probably can't actually resolve to do this one but I'd like to lol Love y'all.
