I haven't listened to too much music from this year but the ones I keep going back to are
Fucking sick ass fast ass punk
Metal/punk in the vein of Unsane. Slow and heavy and some cool riffs
Don't need to describe it, y'all know who he is
Stoner metal by a bunch of Richmond punks that love Thin Lizzy. Local band, but fucking awesome. All their songs are short and have a ton of RIFFS

RATS WILL FEAST - Songs of a Racehorse Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo END - Splinters from an Every-Changing Face Divided Life - Divided Life Wake - Devouring Ruin CABAL - Drag Me Down Ocean Grove - Flip Phone Fantasy Hot Mulligan - you'll be fine Xenobiotic - Mordrake Orthodox - Let It Take Its Course
Misery Signals will probably go on the list once i've spun it enough
One thing I've found this year is that despite all the music, I've barely listened to anything enough to get super familiar with it. Just looking back through my Spotify account reminded me I've added so many records I've not heard yet

At this point, Deafeated Sanity- The Sanguinary Impetus is a very clear winner for my album of the year at this point in the year. It was on my list before, but I never expected it to grow on me at the rate it has. Despite how atonal and disjointed it is, I can hum nearly the entire album to myself at any moment. hahaha. Vocalist Trevor from The Black Dahlia Murder proclaimed it would be his album of the year when it came out, and although I'm not a huge TBDM fan, I think Trevor really knows his stuff, and I am totally on board with that title for this album so far.

Need to get this thread updated for the full year soon Yeah, I vote for a new thread at the beginning of December. Most of the remaining releases have too little time to sit with me long enough for top 10 consideration. In addition, I thought I might try a new year end list thread idea: music superlatives. I think it could be fun and very open-ended.
