I second the person who recommended Claymore, holy shit I loved that anime.
-Parasyte is pretty solid. Weird as hell.
-One Punch Man is an awesome anime, bordering on satire and poking fun of the typical anime tropes. Even my fiance loves it and she's not an anime fan.
-Blood C. Horrorish...gory as HELL and one of the weirder that i've seen.
-Blue Gender. This show didn't last too long, but if you're a fan of Evangelion, you'll probably enjoy this one as there's definitely some similarities.
-Knights of Sidonia. Netflix exclusive anime with a couple of seasons. Another oddity, but really well done animation and pretty solid creature and mech designs.

Been showing Mob 100 Psycho to a coworker, but kinda been off of anime for a while and wish I had a fresh one to watch. I'd ask for recommendations, but I wouldn't even have time to watch 'em lately.

Anybody heard any good news about it? I'm pretty confident on it actually because so far I liked most of the Netflix productions. Also don't think it could get worse than the japanese films (personal opinion don't hate pls)

Also don't think it could get worse than the japanese films (personal opinion don't hate pls) Judging from what I've seen they're definitely removing the Japanese influence and trying to make it appeal to a wider audience. I mean we've seen that L and Misa have both taken on different roles from their original areas. I would doubt L is more of a cyber detective and is able to track light via technology related means and Misa is part of the cheerleading squad which makes me think she'll be that preppy girl who wants to be bad. Both seem to signal a huge departure from the source material but likely more recognizable to an American audience. Doubt anyone would understand Misa being a gothic lolita. While it definitely doesn't have some of the same charm I'm open to it being a decent series. The fact that Deathnote's main story arc is so strong really makes it hard to adapt poorly, but who knows. The anime is always a must recommend though.

I'm interested to see it happen but the white-washing accusations are going to be fucking annoying no matter how they make this show now. As long as they don't mix it all up and say "Aww c'mon, you didn't want us to make the same exact show, did ya?" I'm pretty confident on it actually because so far I liked most of the Netflix productions. Also don't think it could get worse than the japanese films (personal opinion don't hate pls) No hate here. I was never so invested that I saw the japanese films. I only watch anime when there's an interesting story and then wait until I hear about another good one. I have been pretty happy with Netflix lately, though! One of my favorites they've put out is called I Don't Feel At Home In This World Anymore. Y'all should check it out!

I'm really bad with starting a bunch of Anime and not finishing them. Unpopular opinion Mob Psycho 100 is better than One Punch Man. One of my all time favorites is called Mongolian Chop Squad. It's about a band trying to make it big in Japan, great slice of life anime with a great soundtrack. I've never watched Beck before but I've heard it's really good. In the beginning Mob Psycho started slow but by the end I was loving it just as much as One Punch Man.

For the movies I think it'll be interesting to see what Netflix comes up with. Not going to put Netflix down since the only live action adaption I've liked from Japan is Rurouni Kenshin. We have about 5 adaptions coming out this year. Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, Ajin (This one is dope if you haven't read the manga), Full Metal Alchemist (Looks like ass from the trailer but we'll see), Death Note (Different but I'm interested, especially in the MC and L), and Gintama (Couldn't watch the anime so we'll see). Hoping none of these such but I only have faith in Jojo's, Death Note, and Ajin (Looking forward to it the most) as far as them being good and doing well.

Y'all seen "Your Name."? I thought it was outstanding. I've only ever seen two of Shinkai's other films - "5 Centimeters Per Second" which I saw a couple years ago, and "The Place Promised in Our Early Days" which I just finished today. It was pretty bad.

It was pretty bad. I've seen all his films besides that. Loved them so much I'm waiting for that sweet 1080p with official subs. Check out The Garden of Words, it's really beautiful. There's something really evocative about the art style and colour palette in his films, it's up there with Ghibli for me.
