thanks for all your suggestions guys. to be honest i forgot i even posted this and when i did i didnt expect any response. so thanks! i tried smells that cats didnt like, the only snag is, same thing with pellets, as soon as it rains the smell is weakened so need to do it all over again. i recently planted a herb (Rudd) and that seems to help to an extent. however during a moment of rage i took a walk down to the house which most of the cats return to each night and had a heated conversation with the owner. convinced him that since theyre his cats, he need to clean up after them. and it worked. 3 days a week he walks up to my garden and picks it up for me. so, i cant complain. again, thanks for your help guys

Glad it got solved! thanks man, so am i. in all fairness, to the owner, it took me some time to convince him that its his responsibility to clean up his cats shit, he would have to do it if it was in his garden or house because it his cats, so he can pick it up from my garden. his first response was " they are basically wild animals so why should i deal with it?" i told him they come back to your house each evening and you feed them and that he claims they are his cats, therefore, he can do something about it. i began the conversation extremely calm but the rage levels certainly rose. but it did the trick!
