Since we have some big cinema fans here, I had this idea that we could do a marsh film club.
We would nominate one film a month that we’d all watch during that month and then discuss it once everyone has seen it. The monthly film would be something none of us has seen and we’d agree on it as a group.
Is anyone down for this? I’m assuming everyone can get access to pretty much any film since we’re all pirates of the internet?
Update 16/05/18: Added the schedule below.
Schedule
Entry #1 / March 2019 - Prospect (itschewthirty) Entry #2 / April 2019- The Clovehitch Killer (essien) Entry #3 / May 2019 - Burning (stfubaker) Entry #4 / June 2019 - Lady Vengeance (tao) Entry #5 / July 2019 - Three Burials (stuartoxlade) Entry #6 / August 2019 - Being John Malkovich (Ghosty) Entry #7 / September 2019 - Trainspotting (theblackpage) Entry #8 / October 2019 - TBC (v9733xa) Entry #9 / November 2019 - TBC (chocollama) Entry #10 / December 2019 - TBC (colton) Entry #11 / January 2020 - TBC (poembie)

I’d be interested/down for it, this would be an interesting change of pace.... however, I’m more of a “shady businessman” type of the internet instead of a pirate, as the closest I’ll get to watching something outside of legal channels is seeing if anyone’s surreptitiously uploaded a film to YouTube.

I haven’t watched a movie in over a year and a half, and I likely won’t be anytime soon, but movie club sounds like a cool idea for those involved.

Ah, I assumed being on this site and all... Well, we could limit it to movies that can be found on major streaming platforms? Or even just Netflix if need be. I just figured that would narrow down the pool/quality of films too much. But the more people who can get it on this the better.

Otherwise I can ravage my library system for films.

You know i'm up for this. I'd like to stress, like tao, that i want to do this as legally as possible. I don't steal movies, unless you count YouTube or something where it's possible it was uploaded without consent. But those are mostly old or foreign films that people don't care about. For what it's worth, when people start a book club, they don't all steal the books. They buy them. This shouldn't be any different. I don't have any streaming accounts though (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), so my fear is that this will be harder to coordinate than we may first think when we live not just in different places but different countries.

The only problem with the Netflix thing is we're world wide. What I have on Canadian Netflix, someone might not have on UK Netflix

If someone can pick the first film, then we'll see how many of us have access to it? Need a rota maybe?

If someone can pick the first film, then we'll see how many of us have access to it? Need a rota maybe? This seems like a good approach. I think we’ll just have to accept that sometimes not everyone will be able to get access to the film we pick, but we should try and maximise the number of people who can. Maybe those with more limited access to films could be the ones to put the first suggestions out there?

Wait. You buy all those films that you watch? Considering you don't download films nor you have any streaming sites.
