Lady Vengeance (2005) Coming For You
Marsh Film Club Entry #4 / June 2019
R | 1h 55min | Crime, Drama, Thriller
Synopsis: After being wrongfully imprisoned for thirteen years and having her child taken away from her, a woman seeks revenge through increasingly brutal means.
Viewing deadline: 17 June 2019
Attention: tao , stfubaker , stuartoxlade , Ghosty , theblackpage , v9733xa , itschewthirty , poembie , colton , chocollama and anyone else who's interested.
It's time for the fourth entry in the Marsh Film Club. This one was selected by tao.
I've set a viewing deadline of 17 June, so make sure you watch it before then and please don't post any thoughts/spoilers until after that date.
Feel free to use this thread to talk generally in the meantime - let us know if you're taking part, any difficulties tracking down the film, or just to say you've watched it.
tao: Don't forget to post some discussion points for us before the deadline.
Further viewingFor those who want to go the extra mile, you might like to watch the other two films in Park Chan-wook's 'Vengeance Trilogy': Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and Oldboy (2003). Each deals with the themes of revenge, violence, and salvation. The films are not narratively connected and were dubbed a trilogy by international critics because of their thematic links.

Where is this film best legally available? So there's this site/app i have never heard of, until 10 minutes ago, called Tubi. Everything is free, just with ads. Huh. There's, like, a lot of really good stuff there. Way way more than you'd assume. Anyway, this movie is there, so... that's where i'll watch it: tubitv.com/movies/294337/lady_vengeance

Is Lady Vengeance the first film of the trilogy, or is it Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance? I can't remember.

so down for this. I'll be doing all three since I never saw the first one, and I could use an excuse to watch Oldboy again.

My friends wanna watch Lady Vengeance with me and one is in Calgary for 2 weeks so I'll do them in order so that he arrives back in time before the deadline

Sympathy for Mr Vengeance was my entry point into Korean cinema. I randomly caught it on TV at like 3am back when I still watched films on TV. Definitely due a rewatch.
I *might* try the Spike Lee remake of Oldboy since I know not every critic hated it.

The absurdity of Oldboy doesn't translate well when you stick Thanos in it though
