Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who was the only senator to oppose a coronavirus relief package last month, announced Sunday that he has tested positive for the virus. Karma? I didn't want to "like" this comment, but Adam Smith's invisible hand led me to.

The Dutch government is having a press conference right now and are extending the measures they already had in place until June 1st.
All events like festivals, concerts etc are cancelled until june 1st.
Movie theaters, restaurants, bars have to remain closed (or only do takeaway/delivery).
Police can fine people now if they are out in groups on the street for no reason Fines will be €400 for people and €4000 if they find out that a restaurant is open.
Also I was getting so fucking mad at the people who were still going out and to the beaches or anywhere else in the country and had “fun” or went shopping. Luckily our own government agrees and called out by telling them how stupid they are by doing that and that they are annoyed by the fact that people don’t listen.
I also notice that the death ratio is up but the infection is stabilizing. We are nowhere near the end of this but it’s good optimism.

First day of 100 deaths in the U.S. Considering Italy is about two weeks "ahead" of us, and with 600-700 dying a day yet a full lock-down of the country, I think we're on the cusp of something awful.

I saw some video of a guy in the States doing the 'Corona challenge' on Twitter by licking a toilet seat.
That guy is now in hospital with the virus, risking the lives of the health workers who are striving to keep him alive.
People need to wake the fuck up. This shit isn't a joke.

Work has changed a lot. I'm in a doctor's office as you know, and we're now trying to get as many patients as possible to "visit" by telemedicine -- that is, visits via "synchronous audio/video feed," or, like, webcams. To the government's huge credit, CMS relaxed virtually all of the HIPAA standards last week on telemedicine so they're allowing almost any kind of video connection between provider and patient to be billable, without restrictions. Hell, they even allow Skype and FaceTime and the like. Of course, that's just Medicare, and private insurers can do whatever they want because this is America and fuck actual healthcare. But most seem to be falling in line, albeit with a dozen different rules about how to bill and how much it'll pay and such. It's difficult to parse, and my co-worker Dottie and I are trying to figure it out with our office manager and the providers.
We have many many older and elderly patients, so it's hard. For those that just have "regular follow-ups," we're calling them and telling them to cancel unless they desperately need to be seen. A few have tried the program we downloaded, a HIPAA-verified telehealth agent called Doxy.me, but that's hard for our 85-year-olds, you know. Some can do it and more power to them -- you can use a smartphone or a computer -- but most can't and it's a tough choice. If they have to come in to be seen, we're being super cautious, not allowing anyone else to accompany them. We also ended all walk-in visits and nurse encounters, like blood pressure checks, just to have less people in the building. Things get quiet as basically we have about 60% of the visits as usual, and we're going to struggle to be in the black this next month, which primary care offices already have a hard time doing.

All the best with this dude. If the NHS in the UK is anything to go off of, you're in for a rough ride.

I can't wait until the U.S. has a president who doesn't cry about not being patted on the back for literally every decision he makes.
Correction: every decision someone else makes and he claims credit for.
