Maryland has closed down bars, restaurants, gyms, etc until further notice.
My dad worked from home today for the first time in his 8 years at Cisco Systems, which truly reflects imo the depth to which companies are having people work remotely.
That being said I will definitely be one of the few still going onsite regularly to work at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda. This is largely due to the cross team support I provide from an IT standpoint. Not complaining, because traffic is nil now because of the amount of people working remote and the hospital is deserted with everything that has been shut down there.

So, Vancouver. Where do I start?
My 2 jobs (I'm a barber and a barber instructor for the few who don't know) have both closed. The shop is closed for the time being, and we're just keeping an eye on community barbershops and will follow suite. As is, most likely 2 weeks off. The school is shut down for 2 weeks as well.
Now for the fun part. The financial compensation for all for all of this. Not entirely sure how this will work, but as of today, they (the government) have a fund set aside for the citizens, and we will be compensated by applying for Employment insurance. With my 2 jobs, I'm technically considered a private contractor hired in to do these jobs, so I'm self employed. It's going to make it super hard for me to do it, but time will tell. Rumours floating around that it's $900 Bi-weekly, but we'll see.
For Vancouver (not sure of BC), we've been declared a emergency state. All non-essential places are advised to close. A few places are closing slowly, but it looks like they'll following suite. Grocery stores and restaurants/fast food chains are open. But, only delivery/takeout. A lot of grocery stores have lines so they don't have tons of people in there. A lot of smaller grocers are doing 1 hour of seniors beforehand, which makes me happy.
They've suggested an isolation and social distancing to dampen the curve of the spread. So far, I'm on day 2 and bored. Room mate is shut down too, and chilling. Girlfriend is off work too. All for the foreseeble future. We're still gonna go out for walks, hang out in parks, go for drives. But just staying away from people the whole time. A friend invited us over, probably gonna go out of bordome.
but yeah, thats all today. Who knows what they'll say tomorrow?

hello friends, it is me ur friendly immuno-suppressed chainy. london is quiet-er but honestly, still loads of people doing there day to day thing, rumors are circulating of a lockdown next week, but who knows. i was meant to be in a different country for my gfs birthday lol, but now just chilling in london. im working from home next week, got my laptop so i can do IT stuff. our prime minister said that we should all just get it and live with it and then make sure to say bye to your loved ones because you will lose them.... he then said everyone should stay inside lol. guy is a wasteman. over the past few days i've been buying foods but out of 7/8 food shops around me there are all empty ffs. got some frozen meals and some sparkling flavoured water, only thing we don't have is toilet roll dnno where it all is. i have had no fewer than about 7 texts from the hospital saying "cal, srs, do not go outside, you will die" - i'm paraphrasing but they are more scared for me than i am scared for myself - i will be going out later to get animal crossing for switch (priorities right?) hope every1 is safe and ok, luv u xxx

Got laid off until further notice because of the big 3 (Chrysler, Ford, GM) shutting down. I hope I don't have to pretend to be looking for work when I file for unemployment.

Damn dude, I think they're being lax on that right now. They can't make you find a job when they're telling everyone not to go to their jobs.

If companies are laying people off because of what's going on, why would anybody be in a hurry to hire people?

Delaware's all-time one-month unemployment record for claim filing is about 10,000, long ago in the 1980s.
In the past 72 hours, it has already eclipsed that.

If companies are laying people off because of what's going on, why would anybody be in a hurry to hire people? Out here in Canada, they're being super relaxed about it. Just filed now. So many damn questions about if I'm gonna be looking for work in my time off though. I always put "no" and theyre like "why?" and I just put "COVID-19" as the answer

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who was the only senator to oppose a coronavirus relief package last month, announced Sunday that he has tested positive for the virus.
Karma?
