I just ordered my first vinyl record, I did so with the intention of using it as wall art but now I'm flirting with the idea of getting a record player to see if I dig it and maybe join the bandwagon. I know nothing about this world and I know several of ya'll are really into it so I'm looking towards you for advise on what brand or model or features I should look into. Obviously this is currently in flittering thought mode so I'm not looking to drop hundreds of dollars on the fanciest ass machine that's out there, just a good entry level record player that sounds good, and if I go off the deep end and get super into vinyl I don't mind replacing it.
All advice is welcome, thanks.

Currently this is my record player, and I like it; it’s a good entry-level record player and its all-in-one design makes it appealing for those people who just want to play their records and nothing else. Being a bit of an audio snob, I don’t care toooooo highly for the speakers, as you have to turn it up a bit (IMO) to have a nice sound, but I can’t complain. I’ve heard lovely things about AudioTechnica and their brand, and I think you should be able to get their “entry-level” player for under $100. However, you’d still need to get a pre-amp and speakers for it, but in the end that’s totally up to your decision whether or not you want this to remain at 1-10 records or if you want to actually start collecting.

This was my first one too. It's pretty cheap, sound is okay if you don't put it on max and you spare yourself money for extra speakers.

The downside is it appears to be out of stock at Best Buy and Amazon.

Ayy, thanks for the tag, taoI have a pretty simple setup right now - I'm waiting to upgrade until I move again in August or September. Honestly it's pretty identical to aquafina's, just minus the amp since I don't listen with headphones. I think the nice bookshelf speakers are the most functional part of all of this. I probably spin a record about three times a week, but since the speakers have built in Bluetooth it makes life easy. If I were going to spend any extra money, it would be there.

Corvus and aquafina what model number are those record players and speakers? I've decided to make this the birthday/Christmas list and if I don't provide my parents exact links they'll fuck it up. Also I'm not planning on listening on headphones so beyond speakers and the player itself is there any other hardware I should be aware of going into this? Appreciate the input dudes. Also I just ordered my second record this evening. Sick new printing of Handmade Cities by Plini.

Optional sidequest to this year's Secret Santa: barrage Calvinball with vinyl to help kickstart his collection.

Also, there might be newer models out so take a look. You don’t need anything else besides that turntable and speakers because the turntable has a built in pre amp.

Does anyone have any guidance off the best places to procure new records? I got a few off sheet happens and I put a few from Amazon on my Christmas list. But if there are any other places worth checking out I would love to know where.
Ideally I'd like to buy from somewhere that supports the artist, so the idea of p2p transactions is off putting to me.
Alternatively I got a few really cool limited pressed albums with bad ass vinyl decoration, I wouldn't mind keeping an eye on where these might pop up for sale, I'm not looking to have the worlds most extensive and thorough collection, but rather a smaller one of albums I really dig that are kind of "special" to me for lack of a better word.
