Release date: TBC 2020
Figured I'd make a thread on this since we've now had a chance to look at the console and the games coming out for it. What do people think? I watched the full reveal stream last night. I'm not totally in love with the white design but I don't hate it like some people seem to. There's a few returning franchises that I'm definitely looking forward to (Horizon Zero Dawn 2: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil 8: Village) and some new franchises that look promising (Kena, Pragmata, Project Athia, Returnal and Stray). I'm definitely going to be pre-ordering, although I'm conscious that there's still a lot of good games coming out for the PS4 and the backlog of already released games that I want to play is huge.

I’m feeling a steady move away from console gaming in my life, so I probably won’t be buying. I am, however, playing Eternal on my phone and laptop. And I put a lot of time into that, especially with my phone.
That being said, I’m sure I’m going to miss out on a few excellent games this coming generation. I think as for the PS5, I’m actually more excited and curious about the new Xbox, which is something because I barely played my One after I bought it.

Not the biggest fan of the design and the colour, but I also don't see it as a dealbreaker.

Dumping some trailers from the games that caught my eye, for my own benefit if not for anyone else:

Bruh there is like zero reason to get the new Xbox these days. Every game is also available on PC, and a lot of people think this is gonna be the final Xbox cause Microsoft keep teasing games and showing nothing. I fully intend on getting a PS5 and a gaming pc in the future, cause between those two and my switch I’ll be able to play everything.

I'm pretty hyped on it. Nothing so far theyve shown, exclusive wise, has really gotten me onboard, but I'm just a big fan of the Playstation in general. I personally think they dropped the ball for a bit with the PS3 when literally everyone had an Xbox 360, but they made up for it with the PS4.
As for the aesthetics, I see people shitting all over it. I love the design. Sleek and clean. Also, the new controllers look dope. One thing I hope they take out of the Xbox is their controllers. Having the "Elite" controllers was nuts. I was at my buddies using his Xbox One and it was such an advantage. Also, their online customized controllers? That shit was dope.

PSX > PS2 > Xbox 360 > PS4. I got a PS3 eventually just to play through a couple of the exclusives but there wasn't a whole lot going on. My next step will definitely be a 5. I see a few exclusives on the new Xbox that are tempting but it looks like they're putting them out on PC too. Might make more sense just to get a gaming PC at this stage.

Picture in your head: It's a cold morning in December, your Christmas decorations are making your home feel abundantly cozy. Maybe you start a fire in the fireplace and make a warm drink. You've got absolutely nothing planned for the day. You boot up your PlayStation 5 and slink into your couch under a soft and warm blanket. You're ready - it's time for Bugsnax

A little insane that we're ~3 days from September with no official price and release date...

Anybody get their pre-orders in? I have, although the UK gets it a week later than the US. To be honest there's no launch games I'm particularly interested in, I just enjoy the buzz of getting a new console when it first comes out. I'll be playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the most part.

Picked up Assassin's Creed: Valhalla since Cyberpunk was delayed. We all know Bugsnax is the real launch title though.

essien I picked up Valhalla for that same exact reason. Getting Bugsnax with PS Plus was a steal and I'm super excited to see what they announce next month as their PS5 game. Getting hands on with the console has been a fortunate reality. I know so many people trying to secure orders and hoping to get one for the holidays. The only "next generation" game I've played so far is Astro's Playroom. Which was a wonderful game to play and easy Platinum to get. From start to finish that game makes me fall in love with the Dualsense controller. I think it may be my favorite controller now. Otherwise, I've been using it heavily for the backward compatibility and trying to finish Ghost of Tsushima. The design of the console itself still baffles me, it is so bulky and outdated. In the end, it doesn't really matter because the performance greatly outweighs its physical flaws. Kind of wish they would release new colors of the controllers already though, really want to get a second controller but don't want to buy two white ones.

Q4T I don't understand how they went with this after having 3 back to back consoles generations with clean lines and minimalistic design. It reminds me of something you'd use for a product in alpha. Maybe I'll like it more IRL (once I get one years down the line).
