If we emphasized, like, a toned-down version of this, would more people participate?
Indeed it's been a rough 2020 for many people, and I'll admit the last couple years a few of us (myself included) probably spent too much money on Secret Santa trying to get multiple cool gifts. Maybe this isn't the year to spend as much as before.
Can we have a price ceiling? Would that help?

My thoughts on the Secret Santa is put into what you're comfortable with and get out of it what you will. It's about fun around the holidays not "winning" Secret Santa. A price ceiling I think would be more limiting than welcoming once we actually get started. And really we're not that far behind last year when we had 8 participants, we're at 5 now with 2 people from last year passing, and I bet we get 1-2 more people to sign up. |

I don't think y'all get more than 5 people. We've done such small Secret Santas in the past, so I don't mind organizing it. I'll send out the questions to the people who participate tomorrow, and one of them will be "who do you not want to be paired with". That should save you from situations like that. |

Word to all my TDM fam out there - word at FedEx (where I now work in ops since Covid killed my small business) is that FedEx, USPS, and UPS are estimating huge delays this year due to more volume than we can adequately process. Number thrown around is roughly 7 million more packages than we have the manpower and equipment to handle. Order early and ship early if you can! Black Friday is going to be the start of one frustrating holiday season in the shipping world!
