and the new Han Solo is... ... some fat kid with a goofy haircut! Hooray! So this may be a pretty unpopular opinion, but this looks like it will be the last Star Wars movie I see. I tried my best to be optimistic about the return and purchase by Disney, but it's only taken a few years for them to fly off the rails and start pumping shit out for profit. I enjoyed this franchise too much as a little one to have any real interest in watching knock-offs of the original dance around like monkeys with lightsabers for Disney money.

Star Wars is sick. The idea of these spin off money grab movies is lame, but in actuality Rogue One was fuckin so sick. Even tho i'm not stoked on this Han Solo movie, I bet it'll be a lot of fun.

Rogue One was sick. The Force Awakens was okay. I'll watch anything. Even a Jar Jar Binks prequel lmao.

I don't have a problem with Disney continuing the franchise. I enjoyed The Force Awakens, and even though it was a prequel I thought Rogue One looked cool but admittedly I haven't seen it yet. My issue is that with this movie, they are clearly stepping over a line. They are fucking with the original characters, and arguably the most beloved Star Wars character of all at that. This is going to change the context of his entire past/criminal background as I imagine he will not be a heartless, ruthless space pirate in this as he should be. Even more blasphemous though, is that it will change the context of his entire relationship with Chewbacca (unless of course they are acquainted at the beginning of the movie). Can you imagine if they try to show Han raising a young Chewie or some shit like that? Makes my skin crawl. In my opinion this whole film shows a pretty clear lack of respect for the fans considering pretty much everyone was vocal about how this movie should not be made.

But i can see where you're coming from. Star Wars also has a history of diving into characters history and leaving a disappointing taste. But then again Rogue One had the prequel vibe, tided up some bits, lots of fan service but didn't fuck with the story we know. Doing the same with Solo will be difficult but i think they can do it (or maybe i just wanna believe it because to be honest they already got my money)

Love the lore of the different planets and an order of space knights is just downright cool. I just feel like Disney has a plan to release a new movie in the Star Wars "universe" every year, and that is so obviously a cash grab. Disney is already the reason that Marvel is being raped for all its worth, and it looks like they have every intention of doing the same to Star Wars. The company has appealed to little girls everywhere for decades because of their princess movies, and now they're clearly after that "little boy" marketshare as well. Soon they'll be buying the Hot Wheels company and releasing a movie every year based on that shit. Their whole agenda is just very transparent and I hate that something as awesome as Star Wars has simply become a tool to line their pocketbooks.

You're probably right about hotwheels, but i guess loads of stuff with Starwars was already a cash grab and it was only gunna get worst(someone would have done episode 7 eventually), at least Disney currently has a good track record. But yea fingers crossed these spin off don't get out of hand, i'd like some more on some of the bounty hunters but i don't need a whole fucking film on how the barman got his job at the Mos Eistley Cantina

Disney's take on Star Wars sucks. I liked TFA when I first saw it, but I thought it was worse than the prequels when I watched the whole series with my girlfriend recently. Rogue One is absolutely awful until the final act. Say what you will about the prequels, but at least they had decent world-building and expanded the Star Wars universe instead of just beating us over the head with references to the original trilogy.
What's the point of a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford? He's undoubtedly a huge part of the reason people like the character in the first place. Fuck this movie and Disney for slapping their shitty Marvel formula on this franchise.

I think Disney have done a better job with these Star Wars movies than they've done with the Marvel Universe. Cautiously optimistic for this Han Solo movie. It's the easiest one to pick holes in though given the history we have with the character.

Idk... not much can be taken from these. You've gotta take into account the fact that it's being directed by Phil Lord/Chris Miller. Those guys made the 21 Jump Street reboot work. They can do no wrong in my eyes. BUT... I'm still ready to be disappointed.

I'm still ready to be disappointed. and they made a film about LEGO more exciting than LEGO should actually be, in addition to making a film about food and the weather which was a gateway for a father/son bond story which turned into an emotional rollercoaster (Or at the very least, gave Pixar something to sweat over).

Damn my housemate bumped into Woody Harrelson at the weekend and I've just read he's filming this in Southampton. Must have been on his way from Paddington at the time
