Disney's take on Star Wars sucks. I liked TFA when I first saw it, but I thought it was worse than the prequels when I watched the whole series with my girlfriend recently. Rogue One is absolutely awful until the final act. Say what you will about the prequels, but at least they had decent world-building and expanded the Star Wars universe instead of just beating us over the head with references to the original trilogy.
What's the point of a Han Solo movie without Harrison Ford? He's undoubtedly a huge part of the reason people like the character in the first place. Fuck this movie and Disney for slapping their shitty Marvel formula on this franchise.
Yeah apparently they weren't keen on the directors practicing ad-libbing and improv on set. I'm just amazed Kennedy and co didn't know what they were getting into. Maybe there was a mutual trust that was broken?
I've been mulling this over for the past week, but it's not completely hopeless that Ron Howard is the one taking over. His filmmaking of late has been proficient (let's not talk about Inferno), what with Rush and In The Heart of the Sea. I think he could salvage this project, although I'm still bummed that Lord & Miller's vision won't make it through in a complete form.
