The latest episode's first half is exactly what I wanted the show to feel like. So glad they introduced Mr. Wench back into the series.

Just watched the finale. I have to say I didn't really enjoy this season. It had its moments but I didn't really ever engage with the story or the characters.
For me, season 2 > 1 > 3.

The massacre at the storage unit building for example. It would have been cool to see Mr. Wrench in action as opposed to it being implied violence.
The scene with him and Nikki being chased in the forest was by far the most interesting part of this season.
The plot outcome also felt lazy in places. Nikki's death was stupid, same thing with Ray earlier on. I would have liked to have seen Nikki go out in style or alternatively live and we see her and Mr. Wrench later down the road in upcoming seasons. Maybe hunting down Varga...
I think the producers relied on the hype from S2 to carry this season and got lazy... It felt heavily padded in places.

I think the producers relied on the hype from S2 to carry this season and got lazy... It felt heavily padded in places. There were some really great moments, mostly from a cinematography point of view. I feel like they never really got the tone right and that was the problem. I've never particularly liked Ewan McGregor either and whilst I know he's a big name, he wasn't able to carry the show.
The scene in the forest was really cool but it felt like a bit of a rip off of the Pine Barrens episode of The Sopranos (my favourite episode of any show ever).

I agree the tone definitely didn't sit well. It was cool seeing Ewan McGregor play two characters, but he didn't carry the show as well as Martin Freeman or Kirsten Dunst did in S1 and 2 respectively.
As much as he repulsed me, David Thewlis as Varga really captured the villainous role. Mary Elizabeth Winstead was great as Nikki Swango.
I see what you mean about the forest scene. It did feel very similar, but I always enjoyed those moments in Fargo when shit hits the fan and the action goes down...
I would love to have seen that happen with Sy Feltz and him being pushed to the limit and snapping with Varga & Co.

Going to start watching it this weekend. Loved the movie. And my coworker has been telling me once a week after it has been on for like the last 2 or 3 years, that it is the best show on television.
