Ten years ago today, influential Southern California band Eighteen Visions (18V) played what was expected to be their final show. A decade later, they've officially resurfaced and will soon release their first new studio album since 2006. On June 2, Eighteen Visions (vocalist James Hart, guitarist Keith Barney, and drummer Trevor Friedrich) will release a new record titled XVIII through Rise Records (pre-orders are available). The album was recorded in Orange County, CA with UK transplant, multi-instrumentalist, and band friend Mick Kenney (of Anaal Nathrakh) producing. Among its tracks is "Live Again," a tribute to bassist Mick Morris, who passed away in 2013. A video for the album's lead single, "Oath," is online now and can be viewed below along with the record's track listing. Meanwhile, 18V will return to the stage for the first time since 2007 on Friday, June 2 for a record release show at The Observatory in Orange County. Tickets can be found here. XVIII track listing: 1. Crucified 2. The Disease, The Decline, and Wasted Time 3. Underneath My Gun 4. Live Again 5. Laid To Waste in the Shit of Man 6. Oath 7. Spit 8. Picture Perfect 9. Fake Leather Jacket 10. For This I Sacrifice

Also, just a theory. But this song seems to be a reference to their straight edge roots.
"Torn apart exposed for all to see. Ripped to shreds. Now let the poison bleed. Made of stone so hard weʼll never break. And we will keep this oath. We keep this oath."

Just noticed the bass propped up in the background. Such a solemn and lonely figure.

I'm really surprised at how good this is. Wow. And here I thought they would keep trying to be Stone Temple Pilots like 10 years ago. Can't wait to hear it all. Worth a purchase.

Glad to hear this. Not so glad to see that Spotify doesn't have Vanity on it EDIT: Listened to the track now - goddamn, wasn't expecting them to go hard again. Much more psyched for this now.

I'm stoked that 18V are back to their roots on this track. It's so heavy and I hope the rest of the record veers on this path. The only thing that was corny in the video was the stick twirling

18V was huge for me between middle school and high school. Going backwards through their catalog as a kid led me to so many mean old metalcore bands that I would not have known about otherwise. My cousin/big sis has always been real close with Keith and Ken and I looked up to them so much when I was little. Their breakup destroyed me, the first time any band I'd loved had done so. Their "final show" was at Chain Reaction. This was their hometown venue, the first hardcore venue I'd ever been to at age 11, still my favorite venue of all time, and I had to miss the show because I was fucking 14 and didn't have my shit together. I was DEVASTATED, and showed my grief by literally listening to nothing but their discography for the first 30 days after the show. Young teenagers do weird shit, man.
Anyways this song is 120% a straightedge pride song, pure as 18V gets and it sounds a lot like Keith's band Monument to Thieves which I loved. Needless to say, I am very very excited. 14 year old avarice, you can rest easy now man.
