Ok, before I comment on this new track I want to point out that I was one of the few people who enjoyed the last two records they put out. I thought the cock rock direction they went on the 18v record was actually unique at the time, no other metalcore band was taking such bold risks and some of the tracks on that LP still hold up pretty good today. Now, that being said, I was always a fan of the earlier output this band put out and thought they were at their peak with Vanity, I feel like this track is an excellent return to form for them and I look forward to the full length.

Now, that being said, I was always a fan of the earlier output this band put out and thought they were at their peak with Vanity, I feel like this track is an excellent return to form for them and I look forward to the full length. Vanity is a fantastic old school metalcore record. It's like Stone Temple Pilots had a secret straightedge band, and it has some really cool guest vocals too like Howard Jones pre-Killswitch Engage. My cousin gave me their final record, the self-titled, and told me "it was gonna be the biggest band in the world" lol, only because she knows Ken I'm sure, but I really grew to love that record and going back through their discography only to find heavier and heavier music was really the initial catalyst that sparked my love for hardcore to this day. That being said, I honestly think Obsession is my all-time favorite record of theirs. Looking back, it's really just a bridge between Vanity and the self-titled but I think it is by far the hardest to peg to a single genre.

Wow, it's really incredible to think they made music like this after so utterly failing at their mainstream attempt 10 years ago. Awesome.

I'd love to see 18V perform at This Is Hardcore... I don't know if I can see that...I saw videos of Zao playing TIH and the crowd was pretty dead. I doubt 18V would get any more than Zao did. Both bands rule but most kids nowadays don't care about these bands...sad.
