About 20 hours in and just encountered the nightmare for the first time in the lobby after turning on the main lift...
What the fuck is this thing?!

How good are the shooting mechanics in this? Like Dishonored was alright but the gunplay was a bit trash?

It's not a game you'd buy for the shooting mechanics, but it hasn't really garnered any real criticisms from me there. The only "conventional weapons" I've come across on board the ship are the shotgun and handgun. Lot of times ammo has been scarce and enemies have been farther out and I've just wanted an automatic rifle so bad, but I realize it's a fucking space station and there is really no reason for there to be AK's on board, especially in a game that is trying to "tempt" the player into sacrificing their humanity for gnar gnar alien powers.

Did you enjoy Deus Ex, Alien: Isolation or most importantly the first Bioshock? Are you fascinated by space and space travel? Do you have the patience to play without a fast-travel system, solve environmental puzzles and appreciate a meticulously put together (if not slightly predictable) sc-fi story of Icarian technological pursuits, family and the very nature of consciousness itself? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions than the answer is likely; yes.
