Don’t feel like starting a new Switch thread to ask but:
1. Is the Switch pro controller less noisy/clicky than joycons? I hate how I can’t truly game quietly with those damn clicky buttons, but when I play it usually needs to be at a quiet time.
2. Is WiFi sucky on Switch overall, or is it just because I’m in China? I know WiFi here tends to be slow, so I wouldn’t be surprised if people told me it’s a China problem. I just hate how downloading a game that is only 1.2GB can take 20 hours or so. Sometimes the loading screen literally shows over 100 hours just for downloading such a small game. Imagine when I begin downloading Witcher 3...

I bought a switch two months ago and have also been having connection issues. I assumed it was the connection at my apartment, but it could def be a China thing. They might be deliberately slowing down the speed to the Nintendo servers.

I'm about to finish BOTW, don't know what I should get next though. Any recommendations? Any other open world games on Switch that allows for lots of exploring?

It took me several days of downloading, but I downloaded Skyrim on mine recently and I love that game. I’m also about to get Witcher 3 for it. Other than that, I’m always able to recommend Dark Souls, and I played through it on my Switch 9 full playthroughs already.

Online play seems not so viable.

I need to do a connection test when I go home during the CNY break. I see. On Taobao by chance? I can’t ever keep up with the regulations... is Nintendo now selling these in China or is it China still technically not in Nintendo’s catering plan? Considering so many ways to get one anyway, and how many people here have one, it’s hard to say. When I’m in Shanghai on the subway, it’s easy to find someone playing, and I always try to figure out what they’re playing. It usually looks like one of the Fire Emblem games.

I bought mine second hand. The girl hardly played and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. Yes, Nintendo now has official stores on all the major e-commerce platforms. I resolved my connectivity issues, but still have to wait 10 hours before my downloads are complete, so yea, I still think it's a server issue. I'm guessing the server for China is not hosted in China. Legally hosting a server in China is a bitch, and then there's the safety risks that Nintendo might be considering as well.

It's pretty great! I got mine a couple of months ago and it saved me from immense boredom on long haul flights from Europe to the US and back.
Nintendo is notorious for not dropping prices on older games though, so finding cheap deals is easier if they're second hand rather than depending on official sale events...

About two weeks ago I found posts about a widespread controller drift issue Switch controller thumbsticks are prone to developing. Well, guess what I’m experiencing? Damn...it’s more annoying than I expected. Playing games that rely on directional precision is a disaster! Guess I need to buy new joysticks. Too bad they’re expensive. And also it’s Chinese New Year time, so even if I buy, it won’t be shipped for a long while... ugh!

IIRC nintendo will fix them for free, you just gotta mail them in, so as long as you have another controller, you’d be ok for that period of time.

While it sounds good, I’m betting mailing them to Nintendo from here will cost quite a bit. And then, yeah...what would I play with in the meantime? Just awful. But I’m getting by surprisingly well in Witcher despite the annoyance. It’s just insanely hard to loot boxes when you have to refrain from directional movement while pushing A to loot.

... While your PS4 softly cries in the corner.... ‘Tis true... my PS4 has truthfully sat in a corner in a mysterious gym bag I never recall receiving, never having been plugged into an outlet since June, 2019. I’m a bit nervous about plugging it in for a number of reasons. First, I bet there are a ton of hours of updated for it to download before I can play it again. Secondly, I have a lot of unplayed games I would like to get started on, but I don’t want something else awesome to play that will compete with my Witcher 3 and Binding of Isaac habits, because my gaming slate is already pretty full and fulfilling with those two titles. Will probably be playing those for a solid year. Ugh...my poor PS4 Pro.

There really needs to be a Madden or Madden style NFL game on the Switch. It’s crazy how just about every other sports franchise is on Switch, but no NFL games. I’m not really sure I want to dig into Mutant Football or Football Heroes...I just want a good, realistic football game on my Switch. Hope there will be something coming but I couldn’t find anything, and Madden isn’t scheduled to come to Switch this year either. But wow, just think...I could do football on the go, if I had it on Switch! Would be glorious.
But I’m definitely excited Switch will get Skater XL sometime this year! I’ve been looking forward to a Skate style skateboarding game for a long time. Skate 3 seems like the favorite, but I think Skate 2 was the best by a mile.
