Super excited to see it with some real exposure in the Western world, just hope it lives up to the original.

Despite the fact that Adam Wingard is directing and Willem Dafoe is playing Ryuk, I've lost all enthusiasm for this. Lakeith Stanfield could be cool as L though.

Willem Dafoe is one of the only reasons I'm excited for this, but I have trouble seeing how it ends up working well. Fingers crossed.

I'll try to watch it to appease my curiosity. Looks like garbage though.

a lot of my problems with this movie is what they're doing with the characters.
First off, L would never go out in public and talk about Kira, exposing himself. He's a "behind closed doors" guy. Every time he addresses the public, it's through a computer screen and an enhanced voice with no picture. The only people he exposes he's L too are cops trying to catch Kira, not a press conference outside of city hall.
Another one, Light. He looks terrible in this version. The best part about Light was no one would expect him. He's a good looking dude, super popular, great grades, lots of promise to be on the police force (mainly cause his dad, but he's still a good detective). He's the last person you'd expect to have a deathnote. But this version, he looks like he gets bullied, people hate him, and if someone had a deathnote, it'd 100% be him.
Also, this girlfriend. IMDB says it's Mia, who might be a take on Misa. Who, if you remember, she's a popular model for the Gothic Lolita style. She's super bubbly, super pretty, and got lots of style. Everyone recognizes her everywhere she goes. More importantly, she has her own deathnote and the eyes of a shinagami. Thats why he manipulates her. the eyes. But in this, it looks like his shitty girlfriend is helping him with his shitty life, and they're gonna make shitty people pay for what they did.
THATS why I have a problem with this movie. It's like they said "we have their names, vast them terribly, make no sense of the story line, and then hope it works". Don't get me wrong though. I absolutely love he casting of L's character. Keith Stanfield absolutely killed it in Atlanta, and I'm super stoked to see him take on L.

i'm pretty stoked as well. if you want an accurate live action, then go watch the many japanese ones that have alreaady been made. (though i'm still holding my breath that this isn't another Dragon Ball live action )

I just feel like there's no way it'll be that level of a failure. Dragon Ball is just material that SHOULD NOT be adapted to live action.
