I toured Europe recently and tried multiple beers in over 10 different countries and 'Black Label' a beer local to South Africa is still the best beer I've ever had and its all I drink down here.

What do you all think of the new "craze" the industry is calling Hazy New England style IPAs?
Speaking for someone that is in the beer industry, it makes me shake my head. I used to be such a HUGE IPA fan but this shit has gone too far in my opinion.
I'm curious on everyone else's thoughts on this style and the progression of the style.

What do you all think of the new "craze" the industry is calling Hazy New England style IPAs? Being from New England I've gotten very used to the style... And I live close to Night Shift, Aeronaut, and probably the hazy beer king Trillium (at least their beer garden!)... so yeah Hazy IPA overload. Although I think this sort of overload happened with sours a few years ago. Eventually some new style will show up and only the best of the hazy (orange juice looking) beers will remain. Which beers are you trying? Because nobody makes a NE IPA like Treehouse or Trillium.

Which beers are you trying? Because nobody makes a NE IPA like Treehouse or Trillium. Pretty much every brewery here in Arizona has been doing the Hazy IPA and it's fucking out of control. Our Brewers Guild out here is telling all the breweries you cannot survive without making this style as well as sours. It's overdone and oversaturated out here, we can't escape it. I've been avoiding the style completely because it has become undrinkable for me. Luckily, I work at the only Scottish brewery in Arizona so we don't play their games like this. I can actually drink good beer everyday rather than the bullshit style the "industry" is telling us to make.

Pretty lame that your guild is pushing them... and I disagree that you can't survive without them. Every sour-only brewery has proven that.

I just had a beer that looks like an ipa but tasted like coffee.

I'm into the hazy IPA style although it does feel a bit like there is pressure for every brewery to make them or they'll get left behind. I'm from the UK so we obviously don't have the same resources as the US for making them (Albeit they'll use the same hops and methods) but some UK breweries have been collaborating with the likes of Trillium and Other Half so they're doing alright! Some of them taste like fruit juice with very low bitterness. It's odd drinking an IPA without any bitter notes. I can't drink too many though as they're all about 8% +

I'm not loving the trend of sours/saison's and the hazy IPA's. Why the sudden burst in trying to make fruit tasting beers? Is it to try to get more people to enjoy beer? I know my mom, for example, hates beer but loves sours. I just can't do it, I think they suck. Universally, lol.
There's a newer brewery up by us called Culmination that just started bottling and they are incredible. They've done 2 different IPA's and a Black Ale in bottle and all 3 are just ridiculously good.

I have no issue with that, but why barge into a Beer Beer Beer thread and announce it? Cool for you homie, but it seems like bragging. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
