Yeah, this band is from Spain. They have a strong screamo, blackened and neocrust leaning. Check out Ictus, Ekkaia (early), Buried Inside and From Ashes Rise for similar influences. Ahh yes, Buried Inside is a great band to compare with that I used to listen to. That was a solid band! Thanks for the list of bands with similar sounding properties. This may help me write up a more proper review. Really enjoying this album overall. Yeah, Buried Inside were great. I need to revisit their discography soon. I haven't jammed them in a while. Otherwise, no problem. Spain has a bunch of rad bands. If you're digging the 'crust' side of things, check out Tenue, Néboas, Drei Affen and Tarsius Tarsier to name a few.

The Varsity - Accidents Happen
Check out the link from the author description, if you love Pop Punk and Emo, in addition to Purevolume. I was in heaven and excited when I opened the folder.

Svdestada- Candela (2024, Blackened Crust) This is a band I definitely intend to write a review for soon. I don't know enough about them at the moment. I believe (in a hurry at the moment) I saw they are from Spain, but anyway, this is a really cool mix of influences. I really would appreciate if anyone can share input based on this song and/or other songs on the album though. There are a lot of elements on this record, especially this song, that remind me of post-hardcore and stuff like that. The second half of this song especially. Can you think of any bands from outside of strictly metal that have similar sound qualities? I think The Bled is a possible one. Maybe v9733xa might have a few ideas. The "blackened" subgenre or whatever has always been a turn-off for me. All the bands and beats sound the same and those drums get so repetitive.

Especially blackened death metal was always a turn off for me when I saw those two descriptors paired. I still find those a turn off, actually. But for me, blackened Thrash is almost always worth a listen, even though many of those bands sound similar. Blackened Doom can be really cool sometimes, as well as traditional heavy metal with black metal influences. But yeah, I totally get you. At the end of the day, a lot of styles just full of repetition anyway, and I just look for the bands who do their sound well.

Inquisition- Veneration of Medieval Mysticism and Cosmological Violence (2024-Black Metal)
There are no doubt plenty of people who will never give this band another listen after the allegations from 2007 or so against the vocalist of Inquisition. While what he probably did was not a cool thing to do, and by not cool I mean quite an unacceptable thing, people make mistakes, big and small. One area in which he and this band have not made a lot of mistakes is in the quality of the releases from Inquisition. Listening to an Inquisition record (mostly a late era record from at least 2016 or so) is a strange experience. It's both intense and mellow at the same time. It's highly contemplative. Highly textured. Likely to do almost nothing for you on a first listen. It's a band that requires a lot of focused listens and time before you begin to grasp the mastery of the songwriting. Being listed as the closest sounding band to Immortal on archives is another thing I can't quite grasp, as listening to this is far from comparable an experience. Well, whether or not it's your thing, it's certainly getting its second playthrough here as I type.

Upon Stone- Dead Mother Moon album (2024, Death Metal)
Upon Stone are a great newer band playing mostly a Scandinavian style of death metal which may often compared with At the Gates. I would wager this is better than anything At the Gates ever did, as they were massively overhyped anyway. I mean, come on...Slaughter of the Soul must be the most uninteresting mega-popular album in metal history! But Upon Stone take a similar sound approach and absolutely shred with it. The guitars are very memorable, the vocals aggressive and energetic, and the drums are fairly ambitious at times. If I were playing "metal ambassador" for the crowd who clings more towards metalcore and those styles, I do not think it an unfair link to suggest this band to a fan of Darkest Hour! Have a listen!
