Because I don’t carry my Switch everywhere and I’m too deep into Octopath to commit to starting something new on my PS4, I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 1 on my iPhone. This is the 3rd time I’ve started this game, and finally I may actually beat it this time! After having played such fleshed out Final Fantasy games of the later eras, it was almost too lacking in content for me to find it interesting enough to finish it in past attempts. However, for some reason it is satisfying this time, and I’m finding there is so much more content than I realized! Pretty cool!

Glutton for punishment that I am, I’m taking a break from an RPG by immersing myself and playing... an RPG. Dammit. I’m just getting into Valkyria Chronicles 4 for the Switch. If you like Fire Emblem, you’re probably gonna like this too.

Just downloaded Witcher 3 last night, probably gonna start this weekend after I finish the first two collection of short stories. I was gonna hold off til I finished the books but the only big spoiler in the game was spoiled to me because fuck you Reddit.

I was gonna hold off til I finished the books but the only big spoiler in the game was spoiled to me because fuck you Reddit. I imagine you’ll enjoy it if you were already into he books. Having not read those, I jumped into this game two years ago or so, and expected to really enjoy it considering the overwhelming praise it received by then. However, I just couldn’t get into it. I especially didn’t like the combat feel. I guess I was hoping for a Dark Souls precision combat experience, and that was part of the problem for me. Dark Souls ruined a lot of other 3rd person games for me, because now I hope and expect to be challenged in the way its combat did, and more importantly, I hope games can employ its precise combat style. Although I’ve started Witcher 3 twice already and failed to stay engaged, I’ll probably try again someday. Maybe I just didn’t play far enough to get hooked.

Hmm,... wonder what everyone is going to be playing now? Hahaha! Big time in gaming, for sure. I actually never played the original Red Dead Redemption game, but I’d totally be down to try the new one! People are talking like it’s the next big thing. However, I currently have 91 hours on Octopath, and once I finish that, I’m looking for something shorter for a while. Probably gonna power on my PS4 again and start working on the new Far Cry or something, since I’ve got a lot of games to start.

Finally got around to finish “Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2” on the Switch and “Sniper: V2” on the PS3. GG&C2’s ending battle was a bit hard because it had several sections to it, aaaaand I’m all thumbs when I haven’t played it in like a month and a half. S:V2 was hilarious because I’d barely gotten into position and literally guessed the shot, yet it went into cinematic mode for the kill and presto! I beat the game. Lol. Now, having just finished up the anime adaptation of “Persona 5”, I’m going to jump into the game; I’m so fucking stoked to dive back into the world of Persona.

There’s an Anime version of Persona 5 already? I was trying to watch the one for Persona 4 but because of the move to China I had a hard time to find a good reliable source. And I heard Hulu has it but I don’t want to start a new paid streaming service just for one show. Persona 5 is a game I can never stop talking about. A true game of the year last year for me. I wish I had time for a second or third play through. It’s a game that practically begs for it.

I finally got around to powering back on my Switch after finishing Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze as I have finally decided what to play. Got in an hour of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I was hesitant to start it because I was never a fan of the series other than the SNES title, and also because I know this game is massive, but I am enjoying it already.
Maybe there’s a way to repair weapons, but initially I found it annoying to see my weapons wearing out quickly and breaking. On another hand, it forces you to use your resources more and explore more weapons, which makes it interesting.

At first I struggled to find the 3rd and 4th shrines at the beginning and almost stopped, but then I just decided to explore and found them. This game occupied three hours of my life today. Goodbye marsh, see you guys again in six months!

Just entering the homestretch on my initial playthrough of "Valkyria Chronicles 4"; finished the story and have some postgame content to finish up. If you enjoy turn-based strategy and/or "Fire Emblem" games, you'll enjoy this. Overall I sunk 90+ hours into it, but I played everything they threw in there, and went back to ace (almost) everything.

I gave up on Zelda, Breath of the Wild. It was too large and no satisfying to play for me after a few hours. I think it’s a great game, but I’m a Dark Souls fanatic, and 3rd person adventure/rpg games are forever ruined for me unless they play similarly to Dark Souls. Oh well.
I will start up Crash Bandicoot Trilogy on my Switch this weekend.
I’m a few hours into Final Fantasy XV on my PS4 for the first time, and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It feels like too much thrown at me in some way. Perhaps it’s just because it’s such a different Final Fantasy game from my favorite era of the series (FFVII to FFX).
Also, I know that it is Super Smash Bros release madness weekend, but I am planning to download the Switch release of Sega Genesis Classics, as I am feeling the old school game bug right now!
