Here cases have been rising like crazy. They are closing restaurants from tomorrow and I am fairly sure that a lockdown is coming sometime soon.
I sort of lost sight of life as it was. I used to be 100% sure that we'll go back to normal at some point, but I am not certain now.

I used to be 100% sure that we'll go back to normal at some point, but I am not certain now. I'm ok when I get into a routine but now and again I get hit by this sudden realisation of what's happened and how there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. I knew a vaccine would be a long way off but I thought lockdown measures and track and trace would be more effective and that we'd be able to control the spread of the virus like New Zealand have done. Instead we've got a second wave that seems totally out of control.

The situation with Coronavirus has been fairly well-controlled here. It may have started here, but you mostly can't imagine that if you didn't know it previously. It's really just an opinion, but I have a feeling that as a whole, the Chinese are more willing and likely to follow protocol and recommended/required safety measures to help ensure it doesn't spread beyond expectations. As a result, we have very few new cases, and many of them are from those who entered the country and showed signs after arriving.
Life isn't back to the way it was, but it feels mostly the same to me somehow. They still require us to wear a mask in the subways and on buses (buses seem to differ depending on city, as Shanghai doesn't require masks for that anymore, but Kunshan does). But despite the lessened need to wear a mask, there are still many who continue to do so.
There are still many criticisms about China's handling of it to go around too, though. I have frequently overheard conversations from my coworkers who have way too much free time on their hands somehow, about the latest news stories of how China had isolated certain foreigners suspected to have the virus. The methods sometimes sound a little inhumane. On the other hand, at least the leadership isn't messing around with this virus. You can see a hard effort to eliminate the threats, and it has been that way since Chinese New Year.
The common herd mentality that tends to protect people here well doesn't always work, either. While it seems like everyone agrees on safety measures and protocol, you always can find the one person who is overly selfish and puts others at risk. Many of the case spikes came from people who were knowingly sick and were traveling. So while most people here may hold the same standards for prevention, there are always some who don't.
I really hope that we will find the end soon. I kind of think China can find the end if we once again lock down the borders and prevent people from coming in for longer, since most new cases generally sprout from the recent reopening of borders to those with the right visas. Right now, back home in the US, it is very difficult to imagine the end of this virus. Especially with how many people still show that they don't think it's a big deal. While we can look at Trump and say he mislead the ignorant people who followed him into thinking the virus was nothing more than a common cold that would go away in the blink of an eye, it's not only Trump who helped escalate the problem. Even without his show of optimism, there would have been plenty of people who would have likely fought the preventative measures to be taken anyway. Let's just hope people will come to their senses and get more serious about this.

might further elaborate this tomorrow but i am SO FED UP with the german government... pretty much any government that isn't vietnam at this point i reckon...
i have been exposed to an infected pupil at my "other" work on thursday last week and have showed symptoms since tuesday. not a single doctor in this city wants to see me, test me, they won't even give me a note for work through the phone saying i cant come the "gesundheitsamt" hasnt even tried contacting me whereas my boss who had way less contact with the infected child and doesnt show symptoms has been sent into quarantine for 2 weeks by them.... I've tried calling them myself countless times but everytime i was told i need to wait until they contact me.
our politicians knew health institutions need more staff, they knew they had to re-train army for this purpose and install testing centres. and eventually they had done fuck all except for thoughtless lockdown and ruining the livelihoods of millions of people. THUMBS UP! : -)
the numbers in the news have to be from 2 weeks ago if noone will even trace me now..

The phone numbers provided are either not reachable, or they'd send potentially healthy people to the hospital to get tested, even if they do not have symptoms... but then they are in the same place as countless people who do have symptoms and have the 'rona. Like headless chicken I swear.

They announced yesterday that England will be going into lockdown again from Thursday. Four weeks minimum.
If the multiverse is real then we've definitely ended up in one of the shitty realities.

I feel really sorry for anyone who didn't think this was going to get worse. It's an AIRBORNE VIRUS, and during the Autumn and Winter months we spend more time inside breathing on each other because, ya know, it's cold outside.
Please wash your goddamn hands, wear a goddamn mask, stop meeting up with your goddamn friends and goddamn family, and just fucking skip any holiday celebrations this year. They will be there next year and the year after. Your family won't be, if you decide to be an idiot and gather with them now.

That sucks I had a cold and small fever and I could easily make an appointment and go to a testing facility near my home. Got tested and within 24 hours I already knew it was negative. The hotel I work at is still open but right now we only have two guests. Basically all the reservations we are getting now are from the ''we don't care about corona'' people and it tells..

Looks like round two of the "durrrr our governor is a tyrannic bully" in Michigan will begin soon. Can't wait.
On another note, I had to work with somebody on Monday and Tuesday last week who ended up testing positive and now the company I work for is closed until we all get test results back. Fortunately, mine came back negative and it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Not knowing if I had inadvertently or unknowingly exposed my parents to it was taking a toll on me. I'll never understand why or how people can be content knowing they could potentially kill their loved ones simply because they think wearing a mask is meant to be something more than just a protective measure.

I think a lot of people just don't understand the true impact. They blindly listen to Trump or the media they like - practically anything that is not an expert or have credibility in reporting. There is already a crazy polarization in the US, so this is just another layer, where being worried about a virus became a "cowardly thing". I am glad yours came out negative and you are doing well my dude!

I am glad yours came out negative and you are doing well my dude! We discharged a patient from our practice because he was whining and complaining about our protocol for all patients at the door -- a good mask, hand sanitizer, required questions to help screen for symptoms -- and made a huge scene while totally disrespecting the employee just doing her job. He was a doctor in town. Ignorance is commonplace.
