I think a lot of people just don't understand the true impact. They blindly listen to Trump or the media they like - practically anything that is not an expert or have credibility in reporting. There is already a crazy polarization in the US, so this is just another layer, where being worried about a virus became a "cowardly thing". I am glad yours came out negative and you are doing well my dude! We discharged a patient from our practice because he was whining and complaining about our protocol for all patients at the door -- a good mask, hand sanitizer, required questions to help screen for symptoms -- and made a huge scene while totally disrespecting the employee just doing her job. He was a doctor in town. Ignorance is commonplace. Should have handed him a glass of bleach and wished him the best of luck.

whaddup bois n girls, i've been locked inside since march, only going to shops to buy food. this is my life now work have sold my office work have said no more office work have said that everyone will be remote til June 1st 2021 - a lot of tech companies following maybe i will never leave my house again .... but then but then what? what does it all mean... i don't have to interact with anyone... i don't have to go places... or travel... or do work functions... or meet new people... i can just lock my door... and forget about everything... a n d i t i s b l i s s in all seriousness tho friends, i love u all, i hope u safe. all governments suck, nothing new. in real life, i don't know what you are doing for money or work but I implore(sp?) you to look into a technical job or field. I know all of u, u are all smart and beautiful people and u can do anything. If this pandemic has shown anything is that everyone sucks and u gotta look after numero uno. It really feels like tech jobs are the ones that have not only stuck around, but are still growing, getting paid more. Heck, i've had 2 pay rises in this pandemic alone. If you wanna work from home, get paid good then go into IT. THE ROBOTS WILL TAKE OVER.... but someone has to be there to turn them on tho.. u get me?.

The national lockdown here ends tomorrow but we're all going straight into regional tiered lockdowns which are pretty much the same restrictions. The exception is going to be a five day period over Christmas, where families and friends will be allowed to mix indoors with a couple of other households. I really don't get why they couldn't just cancel things this year. It's just going to accelerate the virus again and we'll spend even longer in strict lockdown conditions. That and I'm pretty sure I've forgotten how to socialise at this point.

175,000 cases and 2,000 deaths a day about to be the norm here in the U S of A. Thankfully it's all just a hoax! And after January 20th, it will magically go away (because it only exists in the U.S.)

How are people feeling about the vaccine? They're rolling out the Pfizer/BioNTech jab from tomorrow in the UK, although it's going to be for a very targeted group.
I'll have it when it becomes available but I do have a slight concern about it being rushed through and having potential long term side effects. I don't know if this fear is grounded in reality or if the anti-vaxxers have finally got to me.

Nah, I'll get it as early as I can. I may have an earlier shot than most via my job in a doctor's office. I see no reason to delay. I see what you mean a little about the Pfizer vaccine but our FDA is ready to announce emergency approval probably by the end of the week for that and the Moderna shot. The companies are continuing to test on other groups -- and diversifying their testing pools too -- so I feel pretty good about it all.

I have concerns. How long is it effective, is this something I'm going to have to get annually? A large amount of people are going to refuse to get it so how many people need to be immune for herd immunization to be effective? Also how many cases are we going to see in a post vaccine world, and what do the curves need to look like for us to go "back to normal"? It's likely Covid-19 is never going to go away, a lot of diseases we have vaccines for are still around just in such small numbers not a lot of people need to think about them.
I'm optimistic about the vaccines and can't wait to get one, I just don't think the answer is going to be as simple as waving the vaccine stick about, give it three months, and all the cases go away.
I'm no expert on the matter these are just thoughts that flitter around in my head, I admit I haven't done all the research in the world on the subject, mainly because I'm so tired of Pandemic world I try not to think about it when I can avoid it.

I have done some minor research on it and apparently the Pfizer vaccine is using some new way of vaccination which makes it apparently impossible to have long term side effects. I saw today in a comment that apparently they have been testing it for many months now, so I am reasonably relaxed about it - although I definitely have to read up more about it, and also take what I said with a grain of salt because I can't give sauce on it.

I have concerns. How long is it effective, is this something I'm going to have to get annually? Almost certainly, yes, at least for a few years. This is also a booster shot so you need two injections, four weeks apart.A buttload. Literally like 80-90%. That's what it took for polio (in the West) 75 years ago.You hit the nail on the head here and it's what people DO NOT like to talk about: this is a disease that is never going to be completely eradicated as it's so incredibly infectious and airborne. It will mutate into different strains and they will fine-tune the vaccines in the future like they do for the flu. We will have to learn to live with this.

As of today Holland is back into a full lockdown. Everything is closed again besides supermarkets and the essential shops. Hotels remain open but now they shut the restaurants inside the hotels down as well. So our income (I work in a hotel) for the last couple of months were rooms and what we sold in our restaurant and now that's gone as well. Roomservice is not allowed and guests aren't even allowed to drink coffee or tea in our lobby. All our reservations got cancelled yesterday evening after the press conference and today we got a lot of e-mails and calls as well.
I still have a job though and we still need to come in and we'll just start cleaning the damn place again from top to bottom in the upcoming 5 weeks of lockdown until january 19th.
Due to the lockdown they are trying to push up the vaccin date. We aimed for an early january start but they wanna move that up and wanna start next week.
