What the fuck is happening to aussie music.... I didn't rate either of those albums much either. Ocean Grove, Void Of Vision, Gloom and Polaris will bring it all back dw

We Butter the Bread with Butter - Goldkinder. The Projekt Herz EP was pretty bad too. I used to love them because they had such a unique sound, but then they just turned into a super generic almost nu-metal band, super disappointing. I'll still rock out to their old stuff occasionally though.

Great thread idea. My contribution: ![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5e/Green_Day_-_Warning_cover.jpg) Sorry. I really like Green Day, a lot, and i always will because of what they meant to me when i was younger and discovering music. But this album just ruined the band for me. So lame, so slow, so hokey, they i never got into them again and have eschewed all their praise-worthy work this millennium. Oh well. Surely Shenanigans has to be considered worse than this album though

![](https://kingsroadmerch.com/Files/Image/ReSize/4/7/4/4748_400x400.jpg) I really liked this band before this piece of shit came along. They weren't THAT good to begin with, but I liked their style and their humor. However, their sound and song writing became really generic. I have listened to this album like 2 times and then never again. Oh, the same applies to this: ![](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/32/Dead_throne_artwork.PNG) Imho, this was a pretty boring Album. I think the main problem is, that this was released after the Zombie EP, which is arguably the best stuff they ever came up with.

I hear you, but disagree about it being better than the self titled album. The lack of a cohesive sound on SNW is what turns me off, they didn't write it together and Chino's drug use during that time affects his performance imo. Maybe you can enlighten me as to why people enjoy the self titled so much. Outside of Minerva I think it's definitely the most paint-by-numbers Deftones record. Every album of theirs has a very distinct mood, feel and sense of place in time but I just can't find that record's. I hear you on the lack of cohesion in SNW, but that is what makes it feel distinct in their catalog. It seems like it perfectly captures a period of time defined by anxiety, apathy, insecurity, anger and confusion. It's like the record Suicide Silence was trying to make haha. Adrenaline is aggressive youth music. Around the Fur is the band experimenting and developing their sound, showing what their minds are capable of collectively. White Pony is the opus, the record that changed the direction of the band, the record they were born to make. Diamond Eyes is bright and optimistic, the band pulling themselves from shit and pulling together for Chi. Koi No Yokan is dark, passionate and turbulent as they come to grips with the fact that he is likely not coming back. Gore is mature and controlled, it carries a sense of acceptance and moving forward. To me, self-titled just sounds like the label wanted them to make a record after Pony, and the band decided to show their latino side a bit. HELP ME SEE THE LIGHT! Personally, and this is just me, I was never a fan of the self titled Deftones album when it came out, other than Minerva and Needles And Pins I couldn't really find the groove element in it at the time. Probably a decade later I came back to it and started giving it some listens and discovered that I liked it a lot more now than I ever did back then. I've been a pretty hardcore Deftones fan since I was like 16 years old, over 20 years now, and one thing I've discovered is that the band seem to be able to find new ways to create 'distinct moods' on each and every record. With the exception of Gore which I really couldn't get into at all, I think their entire back catalogue is good. When I say that I think SNW is their worst record it's still miles ahead of anything in their (albeit limited) genre of contemporaries. If you want to get really technical, I can rate their records in order of which I think the best are to the worst... 1. Around The Fur 2. White Pony 3. Diamond Eyes 4. Adrenaline 5. Koi No Yokan 6. Self Titled 7. Gore 8. Saturday Night Wrist I didn't include the B Sides & Rarities record, only because it's more of an extra material deal, as opposed to a cohesive record.

Diamond Eyes 5. Adrenaline 6. Self Titled 7. Koi No Yokan 8. Gore
