Just a month until the new season gets away. Anyone think Ferrari can challenge Mercedes this year? All the bookies seem to be predicting another Hamilton whitewash.

I hope there is some drama this year, I swear the past couple years have been getting pretty repetitive. There has to be some competition soon, last year was better but just looking at the results is depressing. Hamilton won by almost 100 points. I still love it and will still watch but I wouldn't mind seeing more chaos, the sport really needs it I believe.
Thoughts? Am I being an idiot or what does everyone else think?

It doesn’t help that Bottas is so clearly the number two driver in the team. I end up just having to focus on the story behind the individual races, or the midfield battles, to find some excitement. The season after next should be interesting as they’re making some big changes to the rules. But F1 is typically dominated by a single constructor. The last time that happened, it just meant the balance of power shifted from Red Bull to Mercedes. It’s a weird sport, I feel like I love it as much as I loathe it.

Alright alright. Testing has started at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and the new season is about to start. For those of you who follow F1, I'll try and update this thread with news/videos/memes. The 2019 cars: Haas F1: Williams: Toro Rosso: Racing Point (aka $troll Racing team): Alfa Romeo aka the bwoah car: Red Bull aka the car which Max Verstappen will use to win his first championship : Renault: McLaren: Ferrari: Mercedes: Williams already have problems within the team and they didn't arrive at the track until day 3 of testing (yesterday). The team is struggling very hard and people within the company leaked that it's chaos at the factory. As for McLaren I hope they have overcome last season and I hope to see them racing in front in stead of the back. Testing shows they have the pace and can fight with the other cars. Red Bull is with Honda for it's first year and so far there are no issues at all with the engine and everybody is positive. There are also so many rookies this year and the grid is getting younger & younger. I got a feeling this season is going to be hard for Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel.

Has anyone been watching the F1 doc on Netflix? Pretty good so far. Hopefully it gives the average fan a good insight to what makes F1 so exciting.

Really frustrating that Mercedes and Ferrari decided not to be part of it, but it's cool to get an insight into the rest of the field. Sad news about Charlie Whiting today. Gone too soon.

I have finished the doc on Netflix. I just love the Red Bull - Renault clashes but Ferrari/Mercedes not giving All Acces for the makers is just sad. The passing of Charlie hits hard. Especially since the new season is about to start. I heard Vettel say that he walked with Charlie over the track the day before he died. It's going to be a weird start of the season.

FP1/FP2 are finished! Mercedes on top by the end of FP2. Verstappen behind and Vettel/Leclerc aren't even topping those times. Also Kimi on P6 with his Sauber driving like he is still with Ferrari. Can't wait for tomorrow!

So Bottas got the jump on Lewis at the start and had impressive race pace to see it through. Lewis hinted after the race that there was something wrong with his setup. I don't hold much hope for Ferrari keeping up with Mercedes but at least the Verstappen was mixing it with them.

Daniel Avocado (lol) losing his front wing was fun to watch. I also can't wait for Gene from Haas swearing again after Grosjean retiring the car bc of another pit stop failure.

Allow me to dip my toe into this thread. I've never watched a F1 race in my entire life, but I just watched Drive to Survive on Netflix in about 2 days and was absolutely floored by it. I can't wait to check out my first race in China in 2 weeks. I'm pretty conked out right now but I might come back in here in a few days with some silly noob questions if ya'll don't mind.

It would be really cool if Netflix made their F1 doc in real time during the season. I have learned so damn much about last season that I honestly hadnt even thought of.
And yes, I cannot wait until mid season when Grosjean officially gets replaced for the 2020 season.

Okay maybe I won't be checking out the next race because of the 2:10 am start. But I will watch the highlights on YouTube!
