Tried picking up Battlefront II again since it was free. Need to put some more time into it.

I recently picked up my Switch again to play SNES games again. I just finished Super Metroid, a game I haven’t played for about 20 years now. I beat it back in the day, but I never pieced together the story, as the gameplay is the only element I ever remembered. Having replayed through it today as an adult, the story element is certainly there, just not told through much other than a short intro storyline with text. And the rest is all gameplay oriented story with no further text. But wow, this game really is a jewel. I loved it back then, and I love it even more now. The ending really shocked me today when I finished it because I forgot the really cool and engaging ending sequence they went with. It made it feel ahead of its time in some way with how they chose to write the ending out. I beat it this time on a 7 hour playthrough. Could have been faster but I kept backtracking forgetting where I hadn’t gone yet quite frequently.
I’d recommend this game to ANYONE.

Literally cannot stop playing Valheim. It's so addicting as I've been playing with my brother and his girlfriend. So far we've only defeated the first two bosses, but right now we're just exploring and setting up portals. Trying to explore more of the biomes including the Swamp, and mountains. Pretty dope game. Highly recommend this game to anyone who is into the survival genre. It seriously blows them out of the water IMHO.

I've been playing a fuck ton of Geoguessr lately. Basically it plops you anywhere in the world with Google Street View coverage, and you have to use geography and context clues to figure out where you are. I'm obsessed.

I have spent many an hour randomly clicking and searching on Google Maps in my free time so that might be a lot of fun.

When you start to realize the depth of the detail and knowledge required it gets insane EG, you can tell your in Columbia by the back of their road signs, or the only European countries with yellow license plates are UK, The Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Here's a really good player playing a mode called country streak where you just have to correctly guess what country your in for reach round, but they have other modes where you zoom into the map and get as close to the spot as possilbe. It's free for like a game a day but the pro version is only like 2 bucks a month for unlimited play and no ads. Check it out sometime. www.geoguessr.com/

I played this a little a few years ago and randomly got within a couple of miles of a place with a vaguely educated guess. I was shook. Definitely a fun game if you want to kill some time.

It's so satisfying when you put some clues together and bang out a great guess. I had a round a few days ago where they put me in the middle of downtown Akron on the same street of my friends old apartment. That got a chortle out of me.

I decided to drag The Matt Reptar back into World of Warcraft with me and some of my friends. We've been spending hours on it. The new leveling process is so much easier. Feels good to be playing a game that has always been a staple in my gaming addiction. With the new season of Fortnite around the corner though, I'm guessing I'll be spending a little more time there next week.

Donkey Kong Country 2 Thought I’d revisit it given that it’s been 2 decades since I last went through it. It’s commonly regarded the best of the DKC series so I thought I’d do it again.

Playing quite a lot during lockdown:
God of War on the PS5. I bought this game when it came out and wasn't feeling the combat so ended up selling it while it still had good value. Since it came free as part of the PS Plus Collection I figured I'd give it another go. Looks lush in 4K/60fps.
On the Switch I'm playing Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (crazy addictive) and Cozy Grove (a chilled out Animal Crossing type game).
Can't remember if I posted it here but I picked up a PlayStation Classic earlier in the year for some retro gaming. Hacked it and installed 100+ ROMs on there. Right now I'm playing the OG Metal Gear Solid, since I never actually completed it back in the day.
I've also been hooked on Rocket League for the past six months or so. It's one of those competitive online games I can play while listening to some music or a podcast and get totally absorbed in. Me and Zeke have a pretty good partnership on there with our clan, called Da Vinky 69.

I'm in two Dungeons and Dragons campaigns right now and am having a blast. I don't know if tabletop gaming deserves it's own thread or if it crosses over here. But currently playing a Warlock and Wild Magic Sorcerer, and boy wild magic is FUN and I'm loving my sorcerer. My warlock is kind of meh, but the nature of the campaign kind of makes me glad I tried it in a dungeon crawl instead of an open world experience.

The DKC trilogy on the SNES are probably my favorite games of all time. Growing up my grandma was really into platformer games and I spent hours every summer playing those games when we visited. I've gone back to play them with emulators a bunch of times qnd they are still quality as hell.

A couple of friends and I got into Escape from Tarkov recently....definitely a love/hate kind of fun, but we have sunk a shit ton of hours in.
We also play a lot of Smite. I use gaming as a great way to stay in touch with old friends from back home, especially as I am living overseas now.

I'm planning to start up Mother 3 on my laptop rather soon, although I keep failing to get started. The reality is that I've become a non-gamer in my age and busy lifestyle... :/
